2019-20 Russian Ladies' Figure Skating

I don’t dispute anything you have said. I will reiterate my previous comment. MOST coaches will not train two athletes who are in direct competition with one another and if they do they will likely not be from the same country. Most famous coaches will have one MAIN athlete in each division and will aim not to disrupt this by accepting others at their level. What happens when juniors come up through the ranks is all up to fate and they themselves may make the decision to switch coaches or in the Eteri example where we can see this example under a microscope the senior skater will eventually leave to find their new spot as the main athlete in that division for another coach. I’m not sharing an opinion here I’m just saying what happens in this sport. The exception being TT having Anna and Alena in direct competition, but how long that will last nobody knows.

So, when either of them leaves, their choice won't be Orser or Plushenko? I'm really relieved.

Now seriously, Rika and Satoko have the same coach,

I see more pairs and ice dancers on the podium or close to it of the last worlds championships having the same team of coaches, chinese pairs, Papadakis/Cizeron and Hubbel/Donohue. And to be honest, Orser also doesn't have just Hanyu in men. Yes, he is the No. 1, though I'm not sure what Brown or Cha Jun-hwan would say on being shifted to some unimportant background. They definitely wanna do the best and wanna being placed as high as possible.

Also, there is not the unlimited supply of the top coaches (or rinks) for every single highly skilled and highly ambitious skater. That's only in movies that the main skater/pair has all the ice only for himself (and I heard many skaters making fun of this film cliché  ). And it is only logical that a coach will make an effort of having as much top skaters as possible.

Sorry, I stopped reading when you compared Rika and Satoko. :palmf:

Unless one of them wins an Olympic medal and gets some sponsorships, I doubt either could afford moving to Canada and training with Brian. It‘s a shame because I do suspect one of Sasha‘s choices would have been Raf and I‘d have loved to see it happen (would have fit better than Plushenko, imo) but California is expensive and she‘s young - it‘s harder to move at 15 than at 18.

As for Plushenko, I‘m pretty sure since he promised Sasha more individual attention, he wouldn‘t take on her direct competition in Anna or Aliona. That was the whole point of moving. So, yes, be relieved. But always remember that should any of them really choose to leave, the only option would likely be CSKA and Buyanova. Still relieved? ;)

And, btw, Satoko is training in Canada with Lee Barkell, as far as I know. Now, You Young and Rika have the same coach, however.

Last season Hamada had Satoko and Rika, this season she’s working with Young and Rika. Also P/C and V/M, or V/M and D/W are examples in ice dance. Aside from that Hanyu and Javi used to train together, with Javi overtaking Yuzu at worlds, 2 countries or not, they all faced each other at worlds, but it proved to be a productive competitive environment for them nevertheless.
Anything is possible, not to mention coaches often say having a sparring partner at your rink helps motivate you, and is generally a good thing.

That to mention, people are different! For some competitive environment would prove to be the most effective, for others individual training with 0 competition in sight. There’s no such thing as my way or highway in training, or “this is the right way, all other ways are wrong”.

Chen thrives in his environment, Rika whilst sparring with Young and Team Tutberidze in their own.

I don't get the point of this discussion to be frank.

It's obvious by now that this wasn't "partnership ended with a mutual agreement" case, so most likely both sides think the other one is guilty. We are never going to find out the "truth" and everybody has already made up their opinions about the events.

I, as a supporter of, first and foremost, Khrustalny, don't blame Alexandra or Rozanov for leaving, although I don't think it is a good decision for them but it's their call, making matters uglier from my point of view is where they went, without going into social/political topics and discussing my feeling about that family, all I can say is that Plushenko, as a Figure skating manager/coach is a rival of TT and switching teams to joing your rivals is... not pretty, at least from my POV (I am mostly team sports follower, so probably individual sport fans judge it differently).

Obviously, I am not going to "attack" her or start saying that she is nobody, she is great athlete, who has very real chance to end Khrustalny reign, but If I said that my opinion of Trusova didn't change to worse because of her decision, I would be lying (obviously, nobody cares about my opinions  ).

That is obviously a big loss for Khrustalny and can have very bad consequences, but TT couldn't have done anything about it. Anna, Alena and Alina+ Lil-Bet are still formidable team and capable of sweeping podiums at every competition, so lets see how it goes.

P.S regarding to Zhilina leaving the team, I don't feel much of anything, she is too young and god knows how her career develops and I haven't really watched much of her skating.

P.P.S Rumors... Russian social networks are full of Rumors, from Eteri staying in the USA to Putin being dead, so I wouldn't believe anything without some sort of proof.

Sasha going to end the reign of sambo-70? Nyet. She's only one girl going up against Alina who has the eye of the tiger back and aliona the best skater in the world and Anna who is an athlete and an artist. Oh and then there is killer Kamila. Sasha may be able to be one of them from time to time but as a group no way will their reign be ended by Sasha. Plus the new 4A had fractured legs in their careers and came back better and stronger. Their mental toughness cannot be questioned. I do hope the best for Sasha and that plushenko actually helps her like he has not other girls. But this is a very risky move by Sasha. She is a gambler that's for sure.

And the drama continues. Apparently Rozanov did an interview and said that he didn’t like Daniil’s choreo and that he didn’t like the music choices for Daria Usacheva. I guess he also said that Kamila’s short had too many leg kicks for his liking too. I don’t have a link or anything, this is all from people talking about it on twitter.

One of the few amusing aspects of this drama (for me) is Rozanov has now been designated as 'Hot Sergei' to differentiate him from Dudakov. (I still love you, Dudakov. Don't listen to them!) If one of the outcomes of all this is more Hot Sergei on our TV screens during televised competitions, then maybe, in some small way, we all win?

Snark has now been re-engaged. You have been warned. System may be faulty.

Hahahhah! Dudakov is everyone’s beloved Teddy Bear Sergej. I love seeing his smile in K&C, he looks so genuinely happy, like a kid.

So that means there is no need to be bothered with your following reaction.:noshake:

Are you okay? I don’t understand why you are trying to argue with me. You quoted me, I responded and I ended the conversation as it had no value. I don’t see the point in you continuing to try to attack me personally? Just accept the fact I don’t see value in your input and don’t wish to engage in a conversation with you. I’ve said all I wanted to say and don’t care for your interpretation of my words. Read it again if you need some clarification. I’m not sure about other posters reading this thread but I’m getting tired of repeating myself just to be faced with the same responses baiting for arguments I don’t want to have nor do I see value in. I am not stating an opinion in my previous posts, I am stating facts. As a result I have nothing else to add to the conversation, sorry if that is not what you had hoped for. :palmf:

Dudakov fan forever! :luv17:

I'll never forget how sweet he was in that fan video, talking to the members of Team Zagitova who brought fruit and flower baskets for Alina's 3 coaches. He is the best :)

Stephen Gogolev switched to Arutyunyan and while the timing (puberty and body changes) turned out to be crappy, and the jury is still most decidedly out at the minute as to whether that was for the best or a mistake, Trusova and her family probably know she doesn't have the amount of time it appears to be taking there to prove worthwhile if in fact it does.

When you think about it, either staying or going, and if the latter where to go is pretty much a crap shoot, a risk that no one ever knows the outcome of. In two years, some fans will be going "told you so" but I wouldn't like to bet good money of which fans it will be...

PS - sorry, I just thought, when you said
Unless one of them wins an Olympic medal and gets some sponsorships, I doubt either could afford moving to Canada and training with Brian.

Remember, when Yuzuru switched to Brian, he had the junior golds and that worlds bronze but no Olympics and far less sponsorship than now. I believe the consensus was JSF at least partly underwrote it.

For repeating what was said previously:

Satoko and Rika both have Mie Hamada as their main coach. Satoko was japanese No. 1 for a time, though Rika was accepted into the team being potentially on the same or higher level. There are other examples elsewhere pointed by me and nussnacker. Yes, Young You is another one. Statement that coaches do not accept skaters who are on the same level as those who already train there is not true and that's the whole point what was intended to say.

Rozanov has been called Hot Sergei because of TSL since last year, it’s not a new thing [emoji23]

I am here for this. Maybe in the coaches section? Someone start one. Someone else compile lots of pictures.

One FanFest to unite all of GS! (well half of GS anyway. Maybe two-thirds?)

I can start it if no one else wants to!! I will be sure to include many pictures :agree:

Although, I see that there is a Fan Fest for the Plushenko Academy, so I don’t know if he would just be added to that Fan Fest?
