I wanted Ksenia to be there too, is she in the reserve? I hope she’ll get GP spots.

The article makes in sound like they’re easing the process of changing the countries for russian athletes, who are willing to go under another flag. I can quite put my finger on what’s the difference between the old process and new process, but to me it sounded like it’s going to be easier. Not sure if I have just read it wrong.

Seems like Sinitsyna really did herself no favours, she should’ve been able to displace one of the ‘oldies’, who now are the tactical reserve to push the young ones, while being able to step in when needed.

Who will be the strategic reserve, where has Samodurova gone?

Would Trusova now really commit herself to the quad Rittberger, the most valuable jump now, to gain the edge?

"The old ones" got better results and had higher SB and World standings than Ksenia throughout the season, while Ksenia is just turning senior and had ups and downs last season during juniors and did not make the Junior Worlds team, it is self-evident why the others retained their spots and she didn't move up.

The six that got into the team was very clear: 4 skaters with 3A/quad and 2 very established and famous skaters. It would be hard for Sinitsyna to get there, even though she is definitely the most exciting new Russian junior turning senior. Hopefully she gets a place in reserve and 2 spots in GP.

Poor Sasha! I knew Google Translate could be cruel, but this is too much!

p.s. She's Alexandra Trusova :)
As long as Трусова will only be translated as Trusov, it's still OK. However, it is often translated as a coward (= Трусов), which is a joke in the case of Sasha, because it turns the facts upside down.

Yes, google translate really makes me laugh sometimes. Imagine my surprise when I first read about the coward having jumped a quadruple sheepskin coat in the Czech Republic! I thought I‘d opened the wrong article.

I'd say that's a direct insult, calling the Russian Rocket a coward :)

Right, I have to laugh about that again and again.

Your post

Really, really interested about what effect the Bolshoi choreographers might have on skating. I have never been lucky enough to see the Bolshoi. I was blessed to see the Kirov once. Just incredible.

I would love to see skating expand it's usage of choreographers to many areas of dance like hip hop, modern dance and other kinds of underrepresented dances. New choreographers will bring interesting and novel programs to skating.

I would like to see choreographers from the skating world and I hope the main choreographer won't be Russian. I would like to see something really different from Sasha.

I thought Plyushchenko's remark on modern dance was more a slight at Zheleznyakov, but never mind.

In a sense his Academy is unconventional, so there might be an opening here, to break with existing patterns.

Notice however, in all of Plyushchenko's addresses and media outings it is mostly: ' I, me, mine ' instead of ' we, us, our '. Subtle narcissism? Or the logical train of though of the master over staff on his payroll, owner of things in his name?

But who are you thinking? I don't think she is a Lori Nichol skater tbh. I think she might have fun with Shae-Lynn or Benoit's kind of choreography.

I was trying to shift the conversation away from Plushenko and back onto Russian ladies and choreography. Since this is the Russian Ladies thread.
I really believe that both Aliona and Anna could really be encourage to push their artistic boundaries by working with Daniil G. in concert with other choreographers. If Alexandra can get a couple of good programs that push her artistically but yet let her be herself in her free flying way I think she will do better in components and also connect more with the audience.
