I mean, if she had called them whores or said that she would beat them severely i would have understood. For the record Rusfed hired someone who said that about their olympic champion. Apparently they don't see the problem with such extreme words. So Eteri's words must be like honey for them.
I think almost every Russian coach deserve to be fired in your country.

Russian coaches do not speak that way in public in my country or countries in my region(as far as I know), Ever. They cannot speak that way, lol.
Coaches are dispensable, athletes are not. Thats the viewpoint of the government for fully funded sports.
One coach dont suit, get another one. Lose an athlete, wait another 5 to 10 years to train another.

I will be fired immediately from my job if I even dare speak half of what Eteri speaks in public.

Why do you think Rafael said in an interview he cannot call or say to a female skater she's fat in US. Cos he can be sued if the skater ends up having an eating disorder or that's what Rafael believes will happen.
Some years ago a US gymnast died from anorexia cos there was a judge who said she gained weight/became fat. So in US they take it more seriously.

Mind you, we've have had coaches from China, who are well known to be strict. They never ever speak that way or the way Eteri does abt their students in public. And these China coaches are rather successful with our athletes. our diving team was 2nd behind China till 2018 when the chief coach went back to China.

It's called professional code of conduct, esp with underaged students.
If Eteri is coaching my country's athletes, there will huge backlash of her remarks towards an underaged athlete for leaving her. Not just one, but dragging in those who left years ago like Yulia.
As in she does not have the EQ to conduct herself professionally as a coach.

The Sports Minister would then remove her as a coach & send Eteri back to Russia. That is how seriously a coach's professional conduct is viewed.

You make some fair points but EG is without question receiving a backlash. People actually compare her to the maniacal Bela karolyi. Eteri is the most hated person on this forum and the most hated and despised coach in the world of FS and perhaps any sport. She does not get away scot free from being critical or nasty to her former pupils. But I'm glad she exposed this list aliona gave her for people she could not skate with or that Yulia did not want to have Zhenya on the ice. Why? Because this makes me realize things are not perfect at sambo 70 and that there are problems just like anywhere else. I think we forget because the skaters are so great and these coaches are so great that they are not like us with all the problems we have with everyday lives but they are and they have these very same problems. I do not think less of Julia because she did not want Evgenia on the same ice or if Aliona really came up with a list of people she did not want to skate up on the same ice with. These things happen in our personal lives and in business in the office. people get along people don't want other people around them at certain times. We forget that these famous people are also just human beings. EG like many Russian coaches was brought up
in the old Soviet and Russian coaching system where they were very hard on their athletes. I think that has carried over to EG and her peers in Russia.

The Aliona coaching shocker caught everyone by surprise
partly because it was well after the transfer period when no one is expecting any more coaching changes at this point in the offseason. And she almost had the perfect debut season.

I wish EG didn't say what she did but I'm glad she wasn't even more harsh because losing Aliona right after Sasha is truly unfathomable. But it happened and I wish all parties good health and much success.

Agree, and if the government of Malaysia would take such action I applaud them, but the toxic culture of coaching juveniles in sports is not limited to Russia. We see examples of coaches not showing basic respect to their students worldwide. The culture had been revealed to be widespread in China, certain coaches in Japan are known,as Yume mentioned, to smile for the camera and scream/ pull skaters' hair behind closed doors, the French federation is currently reviewing the terrible culture of abuse in figure skating. Gymnastic coaches all over the world have been shown to be abusive toward their students. My comments really were not just directed toward Eteri but toward juvenile coaching worldwide. I don't think results trump basic respect and humanity.

To put it in context, to me its more of coming off as being too proud. To diss Yulia, Evgenia, to a lesser extent Trusova & Alyiona in public that way is uncalled for. Just cos they left to go to other coaches.
As if she's the only coach in world who can help them win titles, how very un Asian.
Our politicians will never allow this, hahaha.

Plus the parents of the athletes would be furious & might pull their child out of the sport.

And from what I know we definitely are not some island different from other world. It just can't be judged by some carefully chosen words processed through PR mechanisms how people truly behave and what they say.

2) It reflects on the coach/teacher. People will surely think - no wonderlah student behave like that, coach also behave badly, student learn from coach.

And if its my child, I would say "You see, you see thats why we change coach. I dont want my child to learn this kind of bad behaviour. Learn skill is one thing, bad behaviour follow whole life one" . And have a nice time convincing people, LOL.

Eteri likes to bring it upon herself/put her foot in her mouth, thats her call as a 40 + year old adult.
Other people will then call her out for her putting foot in mouth behaviour.

The problem isn‘t only what she said. Her words don‘t exist in a vacuum, they have consequences. In many cases, those consequences include cyber bullying so severe teenagers have to close their public social media comments. And needless to say, this kind of treatment can and HAS proven to be harmful to mental health.

At the very least, someone should sit down with Eteri and tell her the do‘s and don‘t‘s of publicly splitting with a student. It‘s a very simple rule, actually. When in doubt, don‘t badmouth the children.

Honestly, I find it so hard to believe that any sane adult would need this reminder. And, yet they do. And, not just Eteri.. there are so many coaches in Russia and out of Russia who need to be told this....

Well said eagle. I would like to thank EG has learned a valuable lesson from these two devastating and unexpected ditchings by Sasha and Aliona. But I doubt it. When you're on top you sometimes aren't realistic about things. But I'm pretty sure the Russian fed head will have a long talk with her at some point.

again, where is the proof of any Eteri's claims? do you personally know the girls are "spoiled princesses"? have you ever seen any of them exhibit this behavior? do you have evidence that anything Eteri has said is the truth?

There are no words in this world to explain some issuses to the princess to change her mind. The only solution is to punish her. But why ET was so devastated after she did what she had to do? Looks like an ancient tragedy unsolved conflict of outstanding individual and Fate...

We all wish she was softer with vitriol when one of her stars leaves her after she took them from scratch and made them great. She thinks these kids are ingrates. I would sit down and explain to her that they are not and why they are not.

But I think we all agree if the skatets don't adhere to EG's rules and regulations they can go. If Aliona really came up with a list of skaters she did not want to skate with that's opening the door for her to exit stage left. It's sad it came to that. EG lost the
Best and most beautiful skater in ladies figure skating because she would not bend the rules for her. In my opinion there is something to be admired about that.

But losing Sasha and aliona back-to-back would have been like Professor Mishin losing Yagudin and then plushenko two months later 20 years ago.. it's almost 2 unrealistic into impossible to recover from such losses. At least EG still has some great skaters. For now anyway.
