Got a letter yesterday from St. Paul. We will not be allowed to attent practices at Pleasant Arena with our practice passes. Only the practices in the Xcel Center. This limit considerably how many Senior practices we get to see.
Shame on USfsa and St Paul both. I'm just not that interested in Novice and Junior competitions.:disagree::disagree::frown::frown::frown2::frown2::frown2:

Prices in St Paul did not come cheaply. For me, I would prefer to watch Novice and Junior competitions than practices anywhere.

How can you be a "sk8addict" without being interested and novice and junior competition?

That's too bad about the limitations. If the tickets were really expensive as Joe seems to hint, can you not write a letter to USFSA and mention your disappointment? If you had reason to believe that you would be able to see all practices when you bought your ticket, that's worth bringing up; maybe you would have bought a different package if you'd known in advance, for example?

Was that question facetious? It's the same way you can be called a drug addict and only be addicted to one drug, whereas there are a whole spectrum of other drugs that you might not be into. I personally like to watch skating a lot, but only senior international pairs and to some extent dance (mostly the OD) - this is hardly a lot of skating, yet my bf would definitely label me a skating addict! ;)

It's easy. I'm not the person you directed the question at, but I don't care for "cutesy". So I am almost exclusively "into" senior level competition, with limited juniors. Novice would make me want to vomit. Little kids on skates are maybe cute, but they don't interest me until their abilities and skating skills catch my attention.

gotta go with Kasey and sk8addict on this one...

they don't make me want to vomit, and yes I have enjoyed watching Wagner and Abbott and some of the others... but at the same time... I just don't get the same rush

that and I like hanging out at practices and hobknobbing with skaters and their families... though you get that with jr and novice too, I would like at least the choice of what I get to see... I'm paying enough !!

Hm. In general I would prefer to watch practices than almost any competition at all!

I have to agree! :rock:Practices are when you really get to know the skaters.
BTW usfsa did offer a complete refund. great choice huh.:scowl:

Thanks for answering for me. You got it 100% correct!!:clap:

xcel practice schedule

I got a schedule of the practices scheduled for the Xcel center today. I will post Senior practices now and if anyone wants to know the rest I will reply.
Tuesday Jan. 22nd.
7:45- 11:00am Championship Pairs FS practice
11:10- 1:40pm Championship Dance practice

Wednesday January 23rd
8:40- 11:05am Championship Ladies practice

Thursday January 24th
8:50- 11:00am Championship Men practice

This concludes all the practices at Xcel for Seniors. They will be having Warm-ups on the days of competitions.
Since we are not arriving until Tuesday afternoon we will not see any Pairs practice ( my personal favorite}:frown:
We will get to see all of two practices. One Ladies and One Mens. Pretty pricey if you ask me. Gonna think twice about ever buying an all event ticket again.

that not only sucks, it's almost not worth it now....

BAD USFSA

oh well... if there are no practices that monday worth going to, guess I can celebrate my 23rd bday some other way *pouts*

What might turn out to be a better value would be to take the refund offered for the all-event ticket and then just buy the $199 package for the weekend events plus individual tickets for the other competitions you are interested in seeing.

8:30 -9:10 Junior Dance warm-up CD

3:50-4:30 Novice Ladies warm up FS

I agree, This puts an end to buying packages 2 years in advance to get good seats. Save your money. Practice passes are becoming a thing of the past.

I was thinking about that and that would save me SO much but... I dunno... I do like seeing novice and juniors from time to time...

meditate on this, I will.

Wow that stinks. Sometimes the practice session are the best part...one of the reasons I got all even tickets for Skate America. Maybe they should have made this known to people who were buying tickets.

Sorry to all of those who feel that they didn't get what they paid for because you didn't.

When are Junior men practices scheduled? They are always incredible to watch!:

I did email St Paul pointing out to them that I would only see 2 Championship practices with my expensive pass. Said I would probably never buy another one. And I offered them my seats for all the Novice and some of the Junior events. They emailed me back and said they had forwarded my email on to usfsa.

Practices

Thanks sk8addict for the info. Just wondering if you got info from a source since I haven't been able to find it on the St. Paul website. This whole situation just makes me sick. I love watching practices. Taking the refund is not an option because I already purchased my airfare (nonrefundable). For another fee I could rebook the airline for up to one year - but the only place I fly to is Nationals and I will be driving to Cleveland.

I also emailed the LOC and USFSA early in August - never received a reply from either one
