Evgenia Medvedeva

I have a feeling Zhenya is injured... she marked one of her spins and looked in pain at some parts.. :(
I loved the program. The dramatic pose at the end :luv17:

So good to see her again! I think that it will be a really striking programme in costume - she knows how to sell the drama of the music, and with the added flair of a costume it will really be memorable. Spins not their best today, and a couple of jumps that she had to work for, but, my gosh, I have so much respect for her for going out there without a coach at the boards. (And how I love Brian for being on the phone, to watch and give feedback and encouragement.) Love how she timed the entry of her first jump with the rhythm of the waltz, and the way she has to get into her ending pose had me biting my nails, wondering if she would make it in time, but of course she did!

I am so excited to see the costume! The StSq was my favorite part. The drama!

Evgenia seemed nervous in the warm up. I was so happy she landed her 3loop, 3T. Her step sequence was terrific. She seemed happy with the skate. This is the get over her nerves skate. Her spins were off, but she knows to work on that.

Same... I hope her back is OK, and that it’s not back to haunt her. I noticed she marked the half-Biellmann spin 🙁

That step sequence was fire, and was classic Zhenya though! When she’s perfectly in shape and later on in the season, I’m sure this program will be magical!

I LOVE the program, seriously, it‘s amazing. It was a bit raw and Zhenya totally off other than the step sequence but it‘s so beautifully done. She just needs to carry on the fire she has in the step sequence throughout the whole program.

Also: 3Lo+3T, interesting.

What worried me, though, was her shape. It didn‘t look like nerves to me, she seemed cautious and reminded me of her Worlds FS, where we all know she was injured... I wouldn’t be stressed out if she didn‘t have her first competition in basically one week. Aliona, for example, has time until the latest two assignments, she‘ll easily gain shape until then. But Zhenya has to compete soon and if she really is injured...

Also, TAT looked very unimpressed. :(

I agree with everything Fluture said. What a beautiful program! But I'm worried about the lp tomorrow. She seemed somewhat slow.
We all know that Zhenya is always improving during the season but it makes me really nervous that her first competition will be next week.:scratch2:
But the step sequence was classic Zhenya.
And TaT...:palmf:

I‘m worried, too. I‘ve been watching Zhenya for years and her mistakes that are caused by nerves look differently. I wonder what happened - especially since both TAT and Brian mentioned her good shape a few weeks ago.

Zhenya:
"My skate was satisfactory. I was in touch with Brian all the time. It was not my max, this is the beginning of the season and a lot of work needs to be done, both on elements and emotions. I wanted to show normal, acceptable skating, I succeeded at that"

As for Orser I can't take his comments seriously.
I do also think that she's injured. :(

She absolutely has the right state of mind. 9 months without competing, the longest in her entire competitive career, since age 10.

I agree with a lot of the comments. Zhenya is my absolute fav but she seemed a little off today. I LOVE the step sequence-my favorite of the ladies! I think with a costume the program will really pull together. I so hope she isn’t injured. Maybe she really planned on skating acceptably-as she put it-since she has competitions coming right up?

*deep exhale*

Time to repeat the same process in ~24 hours... I hope the FS will clear up any worries that we have.

this SP is going to be huuuuge!! The choreo is already looking so great and Zhenya looked like she was having fun selling the step sequence. With the costume and make up in place she's going to be on fire :yahoo:

I really hope if she is injured at all she'll take the free at the same pace tomorrow, no need to prove herself now when competitions are coming up.

I'm interpreting TAT's look as a 'thank god I can stop worrying about this' look to keep myself sane :drama:

Yeah, it didnt look like she put much effort into the spins, she might be conserving energy

I think even if she would never say it out loud but i think a coach in personat the boards would have helped her. Is there a rule that says only the official trainers, can be there at test skates? I had hoped someone from cska could have stepped in. And what will happen at the cup stages will she be alone tere too. Please tell me i am wrong.
