Mira or Joannie?

I don't know if if would have been the same comment, but I have heard on a few occasions that Mira's technique on jumps is strange, to say the least. She has an excessive use of knees, so she does complete her jumps, but they do not look attractive.

I still think Joannie is better and will remain as National Champion unless she is forced to withdraw due to injury or something. I would like to see Lesley Hawker go to Worlds this year, I think she could definitely place higher than 24th so maybe letting her go this season would force Mira to correct certain flaws and then we could consider her coming back to the World team and perhaps contributing to earning a 3rd spot for Canadian women for the Olympics.

Thanks for your reply, I also think it is weird everytime she jumps, she put her face high up in the air, and that was weird.

Is this what caused the excessive chin tilt that she has yet to rid herself of? It's one of her most glaring artistic problems, IMO. It makes her look constantly like the little kid who can't quite reach the counter, which just reinforces the immature look of her skating.

She seemed to have made some strides in correcting this when she first began performing her Terra Cotta warriors program, as the movement was very specific and finalized, but I noticed that last year the bad habit was back, almost full force.

Yes, unfortunately she hasn't gotten over the habits she had from wearing the helmet. It's really a shame.

I still think Mira will be hard pressed to beat Joannie. Rochette is inconsistant, and lacks the 3/3 combo, but her artistic ability and performance quality are just beautiful. Leung lacks that artistry, and I dont think that it's something that can be taught. She can improve, but she'll never have that natural grace like Joannie does. Joannie has the potential to be one of the best in the world if she gains some consistancy and confidence. While Leung is more consistant than Rochette, I wouldn't exactly call her rock solid. Her programs, although they may look clean, usually arent. She underrotates a lot, and she had a total mealtdown at the 07 worlds. I prefer Joannie, but that's IMO.
