Jason Brown

When I saw those Level 1 and 2 spins, I nearly fainted.
I was watching with a friend and remarked that none of them could spin. It was remarkable. Of course in most years, many of them would not be skating GPs. But even the ones that would have gotten a GP or 2 weren't very good. Spins are hard! It's not just jumps. Jason has gotten to where he is, one of the top skaters in the world, because of spins, step sequences and skating skills, as well as nicely executed jumps. It's all important.

I'm worried Jason is not having the chance to skate the new programmes in competition what is left of the year. Especially seeing other top skaters going to Challengers, National Comps, GPs, Other Int. Comps. In competition you realistically see where you have to work on flaws especially with brand new programmes so Jason is at a disadvantage if Nationals will be his first event.
I hope the virtual ISP will count as experience for him since it was under pressure like a real competition having only one try, but it's still not the same, so I don't know.
I wish they would manage to have Autumn Classics Int. until the end of year when and if the measures are eased, but obviously my hopes are not high (it's still postponed, so I don't know what's up with that).
Of course, Jason, being the skater that he is, could have great skates at Nationals and big scores regardless of lack of experience with real competition.
I'm sure Brian Orser is giving him lots of attention nowadays and I'm curious to see how it will turn out.
😟

Per Milly Murdock's Instastory video yesterday, Jason and she (plus Victoria Alcantara) were at The Rotation Room.

Wearing masks, they posed in front of a wall of signage.

My understanding is that The Rotation Room recently opened as a facility for off-ice harness training.

ETA:

Forgot to say that Grassroots To Champions is having a virtual camp in Dec, and Jason is listed among the staff.

Aleksandra Boikova posted a throwback photo of her hugging Jason and Zhenya at a competition with the caption "I miss you guys!" Zhenya reposted it. It was fun to see. I'm not sure which competition they were at. https://www.instagram.com/aleksandraboikova/

Really pleased that Victoria is spending time with Jason. I think he would be a great influence on her and it must be hard for her to be all the way over the other side of the world, trapped with the border shut.

How Moving to Toronto Reignited Jason Brown’s Love for Figure Skating (Oct 28)

Well, this is truly a shocking statement coming from Jason, "... we're trying to look at this in the most positive light."

How Moving to Toronto Reignited Jason Brown’s Love for Figure Skating (Oct 28)

"I really love Tracy. I couldn't say a single negative thing if I tried. She has such high standards – and she knows that I'm capable of greatness and such a high level – that she's constantly pushing me to be better, but in a holistic way of pushing. She obviously wants me to be my best person, and she sees me as a person before an athlete. She just does an incredible job of inspiring me to be better."

I love, love, love his relationship with Tracy - honestly his move to TCC was the best thing he's ever done imo.

Definitely! Jason would bond with any coach he works closely with. But the environment there is nearly perfect for him. No one could have predicted the way this season was impacted by the pandemic and how difficult or impossible it would be for his international team mates to return to Canada, but he's in the best place he can possibly be.
