Bronze medalist of the European Figure Skating Championship 2020 Sasha spoke about the preparation for the competition.

Trusova plans to perform four quadruple jumps in a free program and a triple axel in a short program in Kazan.

“I wanted all the jumps, I always wanted to insert more into the program. Now I'm working on that too, and I really enjoy skating. I have never felt this way.

I really feel how the sliding is changing, ”Trusova said on the air of Channel One.

I wonder which quads. She didn't say

I think she said she wanted them "all", so...?

There can't be "all" quads in four. I mean doesn't she do a loop as well or is that not ready?

On a completely different note: I didn't know Muravyova was also competing at stage 4 junior ladies. Makes it even more interesting

I’m guessing 4S. Don’t think 4Lo is ready and safe enough to put so, I think for free, she would do:

4Lz
4S
4T+3T
2A
4T x
3Lz+3Lo x
3Lz+1Eu+3S x
Since this is last years layout that seems verry resonable. Possible alternatives is a 4F instead of 4S or 4Lo but I think that the loop is the least stable one. I think they should go for whatever is most stable.

Last year she also had the +Eu+3S combo on the 2nd 4T and had the last 3Lz as a solo element so that could also be something they play around with.

Talking about Anna and her programs this year, I also think that they are not the best vehicle to show her range and her full capabilities. I wish they had given her both Akatieva's programs to see how she would have done with a sassy jazzy short and a more nuanced long. I think Akatieva lucked out this year, in that she got the best pair of programs of TT (while for example, Kamila got a fantastic short but a less fantastic long program).

Same here. But I prefer her to repeat the second quad toe alone. Putting the Eu+3S at the end of 3Lz would be better.

And for Alyona, if her trixel is not consistent for now, I would try in free but in short:

2A (with a high GOE)
3Lz
3F+3T x

And spins&step with lvl4 and bonuses, surely with her gifted PCS skills, she could get 80-81+

I think the reason for putting the +Eu+3S with the 4T instead of the 3Lz is that it is risky to have a combo on the last jump in the free since that is usually the jump meant for backupcombos if any of the planned ones fail for any reason.

I think she will get similair scores that Kamilla and Anna have been getting in their shorts. They both also have good GOE on almost every element. PCS in the 9s and bonus on on average 2 spins per program. There really isnt that much higher to go without a 3A.
Maybe tomorrow I will have time over and calculate the max possible score in the short without a 3A.

I would expect 4F before 4S, her flip seemed more solid last season and its worth more. She could be risking an edge call though. Also as some others have said, I think she will put te Eu+3S on her second 4T. Risky program either way, she should save the 4 quads for her GP and try to go clean against Alyona here with a solid 3.

I think you articulated my thoughts better than I could do on my own. I do understand the strategy of TT to keep things similar in order to get maximum results but, being a selfish fan, I really would love to see the girls explore more styles. On a normal four year period, the second and third year are even useful IMO to establish your skaters as versatile in front of the judges and the public; I do understand however that the girls have many limitations (entering last year in the senior group and have the season cut short; dealing with an halved season before their best shot at the Olympics) so it's entirely right to have them skate to things they are familiar and comfortable with. However I still really hope to see more variety from Anna in the future, for the sake of seeing how would she tackle the challenge. This is an interesting video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rIVj4_SjSos&ab_channel=VivMore (there are others with more girls where you can see how well and to the beat she dances for a non professional dancer). Here is last year EX, that the dance teacher of TT helped choreographing by giving the idea to Daniil and working on the movements: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YWstnwLYMy8&ab_channel=BossTChannel

The topic at hand was interpretation, and the reasoning for why it feels Kihira slips out of her character so often during the skate is the lack of engagement in her face. The facial expression was the relevant detail.

If we’re comparing Anna and Aliona then yes there is much more to consider. Anna is of superb musicality. Of course so is Aliona, though I think who is better is really down to personal preference (as one mentioned perhaps it is a western versus eastern preference). Much more difficult to compare the two of them in interpretation than Rika and Aliona.
Honestly I don't see any interpretation at all from Kihira in the face or body. All I see is a skater who moves gracefully and has great basic skills but that's it. All the other top/big name Japanese ladies are better then her when you discount the jumps. Maybe its all subtle and I don't watch her closely enough to see it but that's my opinion.

Sofia Samodelkina has withdrawn from the 4th Stage due to injury

Poor Sonia! She looked so ready at the beginning of the season, and I thought she‘d show us a quad and a 3A this time. They should’ve tried earlier stages with easier layout :( such bad luck for her, the injury is really unfortunate.
Hope she’ll recover by Jr Nats.

I have to disagree. Her programs this past year weren’t the best fit for her from an interpretation standpoint but that doesn’t mean she can’t interpret (I’d even argue that several of her short program performances this past year were pretty good in that department). Facial expressions aren’t always her strong suit but her quality of movement is fantastic and she really moves from her fingertips all the way through her body. Her programs from her first senior year are better for seeing her interpretive skills IMO (her short in particular was absolutely lovely when she hit it).

I think Sasha will go with 4Lz, 4S, 4T+3T and 4T+1Eu+3S.
Plushy said a couple of months ago that they were starting with 2 quads, then add the 4S. Mihailov said that he was preparing(phisically) her for 5 quads.

I don't know why they prefer 4S over 4F. 4S is the most Sasha's unstable quad. I would prefer an (e), or a (!) call on the Flip than a 4S fall. 4F has a higher BV than 4S. But they are the coaches and they know what is best for her and she makes her decisions about her layout.

She is reserving the 4Loop for GP Rostelecom. She wants to be the first lady that land it and she doesn't want that Young Yoo take the credit for it (NHK Trophy).
