i would find ladies more exciting if the points were closer to 190-200.... from having watched ontario and bc sectionals, it's like who will fall the less often will win... which is sad... not sure of the level of pineault and mallet in quebec though i don't count on it being above 160 either

LOL! So true! They attempt programs with base values that could earn a score around 190. And you are right that the one that wins is the one that gets the smallest negative GOE score.

I'm afraid our esteemed panel of judges has disqualified you on a technicality. So much potential, and yet you cracked under the pressure.

All jokes aside... thank you or taking the time for such a detailed reply! This gives me a list of Canadian skaters to follow more closely over the next year or two. I am so ready to see some skating! Even another Zoom competition will do at this point.

Not that I’m adverse to chili peppers and at the risk of also getting disqualified by the esteemed panel of judges I will mention 2 pairs with future star potential. First I would pick McIntosh/Mirmar. She’s 15, can consistently land triple jumps and triple throws and from what I saw at sectionals she and Mirmar seemed very well matched especially for a new partnership. Brooke could be the partner Benjamin has needed to enable him to reach his full potential, especially his lifting ability. And here’s where I get DQ’d as I have to give honourable mention to Brasseur/Daleman. Love their skating style and at 19 she’s naturally ahead of Brooke for mature looking skating. Zach is smooth as always. They have nice second mark potential so the question with them will be if she can lock down those throws and jumps.

This is an analysis I can admire. An absence of rah-rah bandwagoning.

Realistic about where things stand, but with a hopeful eye cast towards the future. Very sensible.

This is why your opinions are worth reading. When you say someone is worth looking at, you mean it.

I'm like this myself... not so much interested in the hype. Medals aren't won on Instagram. Show me the program.

putting it into the program is one thing... landing it. is something else. it will come though... but with the lack of events this year, i am afraid getting used to new tricks will take longer for athletes.

this is a good thing. it means that they will be shooting a new competition for challenge. that was why they had not posted the results until now. to note : joseph did pretty well... but not so much for Nic... FBS : big score... in ladies, the top 2-3 ladies seem to have done just about the same as in the rest of the country with 150 scores.. (Sigh) but veronik barely qualified here... i hope she bounces back in time for Challenge because at that rate, she would not qualify for nationals. Stellato Deschamps got good scores too... Good for them.

I wasn't expecting to see Bronsard/Bouaraguia in junior ice dance at sectionals, but I was hoping Lim/Quan went since skating the free dance was a repeated problem for them last season and it'd be nice to get more comps under their belt. Ah, well, the wait for Challenge continues.

She skated in the Alberta sectionals, but just the SP, that's why she has no total score. For nationals, she can skate seniors, but i think internationally, if there is such a thing this year, she would be still junior... but don't quote me on that.

You’re correct. Her first senior-eligible season is next year; once you hit junior eligibility it’s two years minimum to senior.

Its unbelievable how a nation the size of Canada cant produce ladies single skaters that are competing for the podium every year. the amount of ice availability and number of people.. Canada should be much much better. Take Ice Dance for example. Out ID teams are always very high level and have a chance to challenge for podium spots. Canadian ladies with the exception of Osmond/Rochette in the last 20 years have had trouble finishing top 10 in worlds. Its trying times now that the 2018 olympic team is pretty much gone, that was likely the best team canada has ever put together on ice as a nation.
