All Japan Nationals - pre-event discussions

If you have a VPN you can sign up for a free two week trial of FOD ( the paid version) , I managed to do it with zero Japanese language skills. I will just cancel the subscription when Japanese nationals is over....

On television, like I do every year.
Could you be a bit more specific? The info from soyouwanttowatchFS was very cryptic. Watch the final groups on Fuji TV, the first groups on BS Fuji, CS Fuji One? Anyone have a Japanese TV Guide?Japan nationals 3.jpg

I would recommend to watch via iSakura (which works better for me). If you are interested in the whole competition, you'll need Pro Plus.

Channel List

Then you just need to switch between Fuji TV One (iSakura Pro Plus: channel 66 / Japan TV Standard: channel 62) and Fuji TV (iSakura Pro Plus: channel 5 / Japan TV Standard: channel 7) following this schedule (don't forget to convert the times to your time zone  or use demarinis' conversions, if you are in the same region):

Sorry, I have no idea. I just enter "figure skating" keyword into my TV and it automagically records all such programming for me. But I think that the previous reply sounds correct.

I like the idea of 14 day replays and the price is right at 4 or 8 bucks. The channel switching seems daunting. What might be even more daunting is finding out how to do the replays without knowing Japanese....

The only way to avoid the channel switching is to get FOD Premium as described by readernick. But then you'll need VPN and the website is more difficult to navigate, because it's all in Japanese, including the registration process. And you have to cancel the subscription before the free trial ends.

To replay a program on iSakura you only need to know the channel and the original broadcast date and time. The channel can be selected from the panel on the left. The panel on the bottom of the screen then shows all programs on the selected channel sorted by date and start time.

Have you got a free steam?
If you want free, unblocked streams, I have a fan stream that might work during the competition, but it's not set in stone. Fuji TV also has a free Youtube channel that will air some things live that will be geoblocked and will likely post some programs after the event is done. If you want to watch later programs from the singles, there is an unblocked Fuji TV stream that will only have some of the skaters. The Japanese skating federation also has a Youtube channel that might upload some more programs afterwards as well. If you want to remove geoblocks, you can install a VPN. There are free VPNs, but they are less safe and might sell your information.
*disclaimer: the fan streams and unblocked streams links aren't necessarily 100% safe. use at your own risk*
Fan stream
Unblocked Fuji TV
Fuji TV Youtube
JSF Youtube Channel

The live.qq.com dude almost always has a stream running, but you have to endure lots of vocal and visual intrusion on your viewing pleasure.

So you dont need a VPN for iSakura? I saw a tutorial on how to watch on demand using a TV remote so I assume its pretty much the same using a mouse. I am not that much into watching TV from midnight to 4 p Pacific So I many try on demand. If it works, it will still take a bit of planning but lots of good info in this thread for that. I think someday we might watch skating on demand or live just like streaming a movie...sigh...

Ah, you misunderstood the info about the channel numbers (or I probably didn't express this clearly enough)!

On iSakura Pro Plus you have to switch between channel 66 and 5.

If you choose to watch via Japan TV Standard (the picture you posted in post #62) it's channel 62 and 7.

You only ever need two channels – Fuji TV One and Fuji TV (see picture with the caption "2020 Japan National Figure Skating Championships Broadcast Schedule". The two services (iSakura and Japan TV) are pretty similar and both have a replay option ("on demand" so to speak). Because the Japan TV stream just never runs stable for me, I recommended iSakura instead, which in my personal experience has always been reliable.

You don't need a VPN for either iSakura or Japan TV.

Perfect. Thanks for those links, everyone......so for iSakura pro its channels 66 and 5. I will try it. If I loose 4 bucks, oh well. If it works, I will save this info for next year....

I'm relaxing after work perusing the Fuji TV All-Japan Nationals site, reading the skaters' profiles. So many of them have pictures of their pets as their favourite photo, including Shoma! (Scroll down a little)

Help needed! I bought isakura pro, got a code, then it installed itself, but I can´t find anything on my PC. Is ist only for Android? I`ve Windows: eek:
