Yes, great that Anya wants to win. BUT IT'S NOT GREAT THAT SHE'S LITERALLY HAVING TROUBLE BREATHING AND NEEDS TO RESORT TO USING SMELLING SALTS TO FINISH A SP. This isn't a life or death battle. She literally doesn't have to be here. And it's not quit the sport or skate at RusNats. There's not only two options here. She could just rest and go to Worlds and perform amazingly there because she's recovered. Yes, wanting win is great, but as we've seen with Sasha before, sometimes playing the game right (and safely without putting 16 year old girls's health and future in danger) is more important than wanting to win. Yes, instead of allowing a minor to take recover from a serious illness and ensure her health for future competitions, we allow her to do quads and backloaded 3-3s even though she can't even get through a program with three jumping passes without using smelling salts and gasping for breaths. What amazing coaching.I may get pushback and may get most everybody on my case, but if I’m a coach, I want my athletes to have this kind of will, desire and pain threshold.
Think about it, rather than quit, she did this. Gets unlimited respect from me.
Also, a special mention to Liza that was obviously not in game shape but also fought like the devil. You could see a few seconds in her cardio wasn’t where it usually is. And at the end she struggled as well.
I have a high tolerance for forum pain so you can bring the rebuttals and even call me an uncaring sob, or worse, if you chose.
