If the Olympics take place in February of 2022 Anna will be on the team unless she is injured or ill. I think the clear favorites for the three spots if that's the case and there are only three spots as we expect a clear FrontRunner for those are Anna Sasha and KV.
I'm laughing at people making such arrogantly confident statements when the history of recent Russian ladies skating has upended and defied predictions.

I agree with Plushenko here. He was prudent and put his skaters health first in a crazy year where who knows what will happen with Worlds. Maybe this is an unpopular opinion - Yes Anna was brilliant today but I hope there isn’t a huge health cost to this decision. None of the coaches seemed concerned before the SP until after there was an outcry. They obviously knew what her condition was prior to coming here. Were they crying because they were involved in another scandal or were they genuinely concerned about Anna. Who knows. Congrats to her but she really shoudn’t have skated and the “responsible” adults around her should have stopped her.
They had a doctor monitoring anna. Anna said her parents wanted her to withdraw and her coaches wanted to her withdraw but she did not want to withdraw. I'm glad Anna was better health-wise today and skated great. There was a lot at stake for her today.

After what happened to Sasha at the Moscow GP under plushenko I'm glad they reduced her workload at Nationals. It paid off with two clean performances for Sasha and something really good to build on.

ANNA

OH MY GOD. I am in awe of this young lady. Becoming a huge fan of her in the past year is SO rewarding. This moment is incredible.

I can’t even begin to express what I just saw and felt. After Sasha, I was thinking “well, there’s the National Champion,” then after Kamila I was thinking “Well, there’s the National Champion.” Then against all odds, here comes the magnificent, unthinkable character and talent of Anna Scherbekova. I’m just in awe, really. I was moved to tears by the end of her program. Then seeing Zhenya’s reaction, they fell down my face, then seeing her coaching team so emotional, I absolutely lost it. That was one of those skating moments that transcended sport, and just felt so personal, so authentic and real. It was one of those skating nights that we all wish to see every competition, but only get so lucky to have every so often.

Thank you to all of the ladies in the last group for providing us the best competition and best skating nights of the year. Especially Anna, for doing the unthinkable after what could’ve been 2 gold medal performances, and my other favorite, Daria for closing out the night with a beautiful, clean program as well. It was magical, really. I hardly have the words to describe :drama:

THE TEAM! (y)(y)(y)(y)(y)(y)(y)

The reality is that nobody. In Russia can come close to those three girls unless aliona gets her 3A back. That is not going to change in the next year.

Nothing in skating changes as fast as Russian ice.

I'm still wondering where all those posters who were crowing that Trusova was undefeatable and a shoo-in for the OGM for the last 2 seasons went.

My sentiments exactly.

I agree that predictions are hard to make. Any of these girls could face injury, illness, puberty, motivation issues , coaching changes..... nothing is guaranteed in figure skating.
Well I think we have the three clear FrontRunner for the next Olympic team and certainly for the worlds team in March.

You are right about the posters and about Sasha but Sasha has been really good this year other than the Moscow Grand Prix event when reports are now proving she was injured. it's a hard World Championships in March I think she could win gold I think honor could win gold and I think aliona could win gold if she got her triple axle back.

I'm sure Sasha is very happy with her skate quality. The top three were and are amazing.

I think what Fluture is saying and i think a decent opinion is that it will be extremely hard for Shcherbakova to be left off the Olympic team even if she doesn't win Nationals next year because face it the other top competitors for the team she has consistently beaten them.
Also there are 3 spots. It will be hard for another skater to consistently beat her and beat her by enough.

The problem is injuries, which aren't allowed to heal. That's why younger skaters do better. How much can their bodies take. How much injury is from the trial and error? The older skaters pave way for newer skaters.

True. Injuries and illness especially with coronavirus not going away are a big problem.

People can say anything about Eteri's personality and character, but currently there is no other team able to prepare all members to crucial competitions like them.
I couldn't stop laughing watching her after Anna's performance. She was tightening her lips and trying so hard to keep her emotions in check and just couldn't. It was very endearing

Okay, now that I've nearly settled down (went a bit crazy at the competition forum (partly wine's fault)), here are my highlights of this insane free skate:

- Good skate and nice redemption for Anna F, nice job by Tsibinova, Team Davydov was 💪
- How good is that Talalaykina's program! 🤯
- I'm secretly in love with Molchanova🥰 now, but don't tell anyone.
- Nugumanova was simply divine in this competition. Her performance was from heavens 💫, she is from heavens🧖‍♀️.
- Sasha🚀 was amazing, those quad lutzes were spectacular 😱
- KamiBabyyyyy😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
- Take a bow Anna, being half sick and winning the toughest competition ever, and third time in a row:bow:
- And Dasha, going out there in that moment, where the arena was blown up three times in a row, and skate like that

She once said she's hiding her emotions to not transfer them to the skaters during the competition and making them more nervous, but inside she's worried, rough, on edge. In that moment she also knew she still had to prepare Daria for skate, so she couldn't allow herself to be overwhelmed by emotions.
