The rink looked so small! I think Alina wasn’t too comfortable skating on a rink of this size. She really carried that program though! I was expecting a little more from Averbukh, being frank. All that is good, was Alina making it good.
Perhaps, if she skated on a bigger rink it would’ve looked differently?
Still happy to see Alina‘s skating, and a rippon 3Lz on a rink this size, with that lighting.... that’s Alina, y‘all!

Finally had time to appreciate Alina fully. It's wonderful program for her, once again with the insane transitions before the jump. It's dynamic, raw and full of energy. The only two objections would be:
1. the rink is too small for such performance, as many pointed out already.
2. The opening passage with vawing the hands is too long IMO, but that's choreo thing.
Alina herself is without any objection, simply gorgeous.

Alina progressed so much as a host. This was definitely a good experience for her future career. She feels more confident, she talks freely, looks relaxed and at ease.

She truly made had the best of this weird season, making the most of opportunities life has given her. I hope she returns next season, I think she still has a lot of medals to win, and I would’ve been equally glad to see her compete this season, but overall given how many athletes reached RusNats injured and ill, I‘m thankful Alina didn’t have to go through that this season. Just not worth it. On the other hand, she made the most money she’s ever made in a year, and this considering the pandemic, cancellation of the shows and suspension of travel, and global economic slowdown.
If she thought about trying all these opportunities, she picked the best year and truly made the most of it, both financially, career and health-wise.

I counted there were 15 windmills at the start and 10 at the end of Alina ice age program. I cant understand what use were they in the choreo.
You should send Averbukh a direct message and ask him. I would like to know as well. It was a miss for me. 25 windmills is a lot. Even half that might have been too many. Actually, I could have done without windmills altogether. If you do message Ilya, please let him know - No more windmills. Ever. For anyone. Especially Alina.

Yeah, I didn’t want to say that, but that part was a miss for me on Averbukh‘s choreo. I was starting to think, maybe I‘m so brainwashed with Danny G choreo on Alina at this point, that I‘m having a little trouble enjoying Averbukh‘s choreo?
also, I feel like generally Alina can carry and improve a lot of types of choreo, but he didn’t have that many iconic moves there for her to build on. She made the most of it, but Averbukh was a let down overall for me this time.

I think she made the right choice for her.

Disclaimer: This is just speculation on my part. Nothing more. I'm not implying that Alina is injured or that serious injury is inevitable. It's just a thought that crossed my mind.

Alina is the same age as Zhenya was when she began dealing with significant injuries. Her fractured foot in the 2018 Olympic season. The hip injury at the 2019 Worlds. Neither of those injuries kept her from competing. They healed fairly quickly with no lasting after effects that we know of. However, they did prevent her from performing jumps in the first ice shows immediately after the end of both seasons.

Now Zhenya is dealing with a back injury that Brian Orser described as 'chronic'.

Adelina Sotnikova had major neck surgery this year as a result of serious accumulated skating injuries. Obviously, she recovered now since she will skating in Plushenko's new ice show.

Tara Lipinski had her hip replacement at 18. The same age as Alina is now. And she retired right after the Olympics but the damage was already done.

Alina's choice may possibly contribute to preserving her overall health in the long run. I hope so anyway.

Same.

I'm giving him a little bit of a pass because I know they didn't have much time to work on it. Also he must be kind of 'choreographed out' after 3 months of Ice Age for however many couple there were. Was it 12? Hopefully it will be better next time. If there is a next time.

I'm just sad that Ice Age is over. I enjoyed it. I enjoyed seeing Alina. It was fun.
