Is Akatieva not a novice? I'm so confused about all these girls' ages 😩

Also, does anyone know when the last (2?) stages of the Russian cup are scheduled to take place/when the hypothetical World team would be decided?

Akatieva is a novice, though she's 13 and a half years old.

But it does feel a little off calling her a novice with her 3Axel and 4T and 4S. Not sure if any other quads for now.

So Akatieva and Zhilina would both be first year Juniors next year if there's a jgp circuit and what not? What about Samodelkina and Petrosyan? Are they all in their last year as novices?

Samodelkina (February 2007) and Petrosyan (June 2007) are already junior eligible internationally (or would have been if the competitions happened) so they can move up to seniors in the post-Olympic season.

Akatyeva (July 2007) and Zhilina (May 2008) will be eligible for the first time next season. They can move to seniors in 2023-24 at the earliest.

Oookay thanks for clarifying!

Speaking of Bollywood this song reminds me of Bollywood songs. The girl in the video resembles Alina Zagitova:

The Russian Cup Final is 23-27 February in Veliky Novgorod. I guess the World team will be decided after that.

I wonder if Shcherbakova will be there? or if she will skip it? Anyway, it will most likely be like a RusNats Part II.

We all expect Kostornaia to be there. But what about the others that withdrew from Nationals for different reasons - Medvedeva, Sinitsyna, Shulskaya, Sultanmagomedova? Will they be there too?

And will they invite Gubanova and Sakhanovich, who have been quarantined/injured all season?

Thank you  I doubt Anna will be there, she doesn't have to be and why risk a loss? I doubt Medvedeva will be there too - how could she be in the final if she wasn't in any of the stages? She says she's doing better but probably still doesn't have all her jumps back yet either.

They have made exceptions in the past, as I recall Anna joined the final in 2018 even though she wasn't in any of the qualifiers.

Shcherbakova didn't have to be at Nationals and that was with far less recovery time from pneumonia than the cup final. Plus she has been in good form, consistent and well scored this season. I don't think there is a huge 'risk' to her if she 'loses' by not placing first; I mean sure if she has a total meltdown skate it might do her more harm.

Alena Kostornaia says in her new instagram post that she has a completely new long program. Also from Shae-Lynn.

I don’t think she does. They just reworked the old one — she says so in the comments.

Edit: Wait apparently it’s really a completely new long program, she added a second comment... that’s risky. Well, let’s hope it’s better than the old one.

Maybe by vote? Zagitova will be there too.
