Coaches' Corner

Anonymoose, I find a big difference between publicly inviting someone to a duel and threatening or stalking or actually beating them in the dark. These actions would require two completely different people with very different personalities. So, I think Zheleznikov is no real danger for Plushchenko.
If you're seriously planning to attack someone probably best not to announce it on social media. And a grown man challenging another grown man to a 'duel' on VK over Figure Skating drama is just ridiculous. Also, in my head, the fight played out like this -

Like in any social media rant, it is the public finding rudeness hilariuos and applauding it as "funny" that encourages this very rudeness and adds to the rude actions getting more often and even more rude.
Zheleznyakov made a complete idiot out of himself in this situation. The people who find it hilarious (me) are laughing at him, not with him. His employer, Layshev, (who is also pretty ridiculous when he opens his mouth) publicly addressed how inappropriate this was and said he would handle it accordingly.

When Layshev is calling you out it's time to seriously re-evaluate your life choices.

In his apology, Zheleznyakov, acknowledged that his words did not reflect well on him. (Or something like that. Google translate was sketchy.) I would like to think he is mortified by this but that may be giving him too much credit.

If Yana and Plushy were really upset about this would they be stoking the fire by dragging it out after he apologized? I don't think so. They would ignore him. If I thought Plush and his family were genuinely upset about this, or if I thought Jelly was really dangerous, I wouldn't joke about it.

I must say, I'm pretty irritated at being made to feel like a idiot who's just imagining that Plushenko's been treated like trash and then come in and find the following had occurred.

Previously

Everybody, absolutely everybody: Aliona's FS is hideous! Everything about it is terrible, the dress, her hair, the choreography, ugh! Shae-Lynn has dropped the ball, she should be ashamed of herself. Plushenko is an a complete moron for letting this happen.

Yesterday - Aliona and Sergei R and Plushenko announce the FS has been changed and Sergei R will be assisting with the choreo that Shae-Lynnis doing:

Everybody, absolutely everybody: How dare Plushenko do this! Anything Sergei R touched turns to 💩 Shae-Lynn is a master! Touching her choreo is the greatest crime that could ever be committed. Plushenko's going to screw this up like he has everything else.

I honestly don't understand why he even bothers...I'm starting to wish Aliona and Sasha T would go back to Eteri. Everything Plushenko does is the worst thing (even when he does exactly what people told him to do). He's wasting his time, money and life on the Academy. He might as well give up.

Plushenko seems to like what he is doing and I am pretty sure he can survive that kind of negativity and give back as good as he gets. As for Aliona, to be honest I think she was more Rozanov's project from the beginning. At least you can't blame Plushenko for refusing to invest in Aliona financially. Plushenko's personal project is Sasha, she is his kind of skater.

I agree that somehow Aliona is more of Rozanov's project and Sasha of Plushenko's. However, I wonder why Plushenko refused to invest in Aliona financially. It was him who managed to find Aliona her sponsors. Winning all the international titles last season, she didn't get any sponsor or contract before moving to AoP if I remember correctly, while Sasha and Anna had theirs.

You know who should be happy that Plushenko is a coach now?

Eteri.

After all before he showed up, Eteri was criticized for so much as breathing, but now Plushy's there, she's the epitome of everything a coach should be, suddenly she can do no wrong and behaviour that used to raise eyebrows is absolutely perfect.

All this talk of giving flowers...Eteri should send the world's biggest bouquet to Plushy. She sure is lucky one of - perhaps the MOST - hated people in skating decided to stick around and become a coach!

I look forward (no I'm really not) to years and years of having to read about how every damn thing Plushy does is the. Worst. Ever.

Fuuuuuuun!!!

So, uh.... is this as disgusting as people say it is? Or is this another tabloid-type "interview"?

If Twitter is anything to go by, then yes it is indeed as disgusting as that.

Although Sports 24 really went the extra mile by having 24 year old Liza Tuk falling as the photo. Obviously suggesting she should be one of those naked 20 year old ladies since she can't do anything. Classy, Sports 24, how about showing a photo of the gross misogynistic dinosaur who made the comment instead. 😡

Are you a native Russian speaker? the auto-translations on web browsers aren't the greatest as they don't pick up cultural phrases and nuances like a native speaker knows to translate.
I am not but the people I follow on Twitter are, so I assume they know what they're talking about. And there's no cultural nuances that could excuse his language absolutely none.

This self-entitled pig clearly thinks he has a right to dictate how women should conduct themselves, before they hit puberty competing in sports it's fine, but once they get breasts and curves they're worthy only of stripping naked so he and crude, disgusting men like him can slobber over them.

He should apologise and go to a training course on how to act like a human being. If he won't he should be fired.

Nope, which is why I asked if it was tabloid-esque. The video interview on the page was an hour long(!) without subtitles.

I'm aware of phrases and nuances that are not easily translated. I follow another "sport" where the winning team (that don't speak English) was booed right after winning the biggest tournament of their lives, because the translator did a poor job with the questions/answers. Live translating is so much harder than transcribing afterwards, though I felt the organizers should have been better prepared. Felt so bad for the kids - instead of celebrating the win while they hoist the trophy, they were practically booed off the stage.

It's Zhulin. Better to ignore his existence.

Well, two years ago he expressed quite the opposite opinion on the "flat" girls.
And back then he had a huge support from the fs fans.
Whatever

I remember quite an outcry about his previous remarks. I don't think he understands the real arguments for or against this topic, since he seems to understand everything from the prospective as Women as play things/ objects of male admiration standpoint.

To talk about something else. I read an interview that was recently given by Valieva's former coach. It was perfectly lovely. Has that been posted here? She was supportive and encouraging and even had positive things to say about Valieva's decision to leave her school. It honestly might be one of the few times I read an interview from a Russian coach ( other than Moskvina) that I found really respectful and inspiring. Is Maria Kasumova a well-known coach and choreographer in Russia?

I put it in KayBee's fan fest, has not been here. It was a very nice interview

Is Maria Kasumova a well-known coach and choreographer in Russia?
She's well-known with hard-core skating fans and within the sector, not necessarily to the wider public. She's doing an excellent job at Moscvich with Buzaeva's boys, especially Alexey Efremenko. During the last Ice Age Kids instalment she collaborated beautifully with Max Trankov and Sergei Komolov.
