Also, no other 2nd place finishers are in besides Ignatov. I think this 'only first place qualifies' rule was made only due to men, since they only get 2 spots. Others were probably privately told that they will go.
I think the rules are now quite clear for seniors: Whoever wins the Cup Final, takes that last spot at Worlds.

Or, for ladies: Whoever is the best not 14 year old (or Anna Frolova) will go to Worlds.

I think Sasha not showing up to the cup final shows that RusFed isnt completely stupid. After RusNats and the channel 1 event it was clear than Anna and Sasha are 1 and 2 in Russia. Considering they have both been ill/injured (but looked better at channel 1) it is surely better for them not to go to the cup final but concentrate on getting fully healthy again to perform their best at worlds. Participating in the Cup Final can not do either of them any good regardless of if they skate flawless or struggles.

It may be a good hint or a bad one. Sasha's apparently not fit for the Cup and cannot do her best.
I see the FFKKR'v already decided who's going to the Worlds. But there is no official message till the Cup.
I don't think that they have decided on the third spot. That's why the key question is Liza or Alyona. As for Sasha, I agree that she is going. Plushy did not have to ridicule himself with stupid accusations. The Fed has not given up on Sasha. Naming her rather than Kamila the seeded skater during TV1 show was a clear manifestation of that.

If Alyona is close to her last year shape Liza has no chances. But I am rooting for Liza in any case. It is obviously her last chance for the Worlds. And with all BOW she deserves it. If Alyona is serious about going on she will have plenty of opportunities including fighting for the place in the Olympic team. I don't believe that there is a slightest chance for Liza to go to Bejing. She missed Sochi, she missed Korea, she missed Saitama - let the girl do it one more time!

Yeah, I think it was obvious they just didn’t want to openly state they’re singling out Makar, thus nominated only the winners.
But knowing Makar and his inconsistency, there was no other way unfortunately, they need someone more or less reliable for worlds.

As several have said, I guess this does mean that Sasha has been given the spot. So has it come down to what we all thought it would come down to? A battle for the third spot between Alyona and Liza T.?
It has! I also realized that aside Eilish vs Eilish, it will be Mishin vs Plushenko for the final ladies spot. A coach vs his star student. 1TV producers are super happy about it, I am sure!

I think most of feds, coaches and even fans would agree on Sasha deserving Worlds' spot.
Still, the official announcement pointed to Nats' winner only as qualifiers, so I wonder how the feds are gonna play it out.
Coaches council?

Also, even without Anna and Sasha - can we talk about how stacked this tournament is gonna be? :drama::popcorn:

And the preliminary list for junior ladies:

Sofia AKATYEVA
Elizaveta BERESTOVSKAYA
Veronika ZHILINA
Maria ZAKHAROVA (she skipped jr nats)
Valeria KOSTINA
Stanislava MOLCHANOVA
Sofia MURAVYOVA
Valeria OVCHINNIKOVA
Elizaveta OSOKINA
Maria PARAMONOVA
Adelia PETROSIAN
Sofia SAMODELKINA

No Alina Gorbachova in this important competition (for JGP spots). She couldn't do two stages. Would have liked to see Sviridenko and Latushkina. There was no hope for Sadkova.

Kostina and Molchanova again from the Senior Cup. I don't like that.
Junior nationals part 2!

I read in Russian fora they had announced only winners going to Worlds because of men's situation, where there are only two spots, so they want to select best possible skater at the moment to accompany Kolyada in bringing back 3 spots for Olympics.
Sounds reasonable.

Im far from an expert in Icedance but as I understood it there where also several teams missing there at Nats thet they werent sure would come back for worlds or not.

I agree that Sasha and B/K in pairs has probably been selected for worlds all this time just not officially announced yet.

Participants for Cup final are out!
Kamila Valieva, Anastasia Gulyakova, Alena Kostornaya, Elizaveta Nugumanova, Sofya Samodurova, Maria Talalaikina, Anastasia Tarakanova, Elizaveta Tuktamysheva, Daria Usacheva, Anna Frolova, Maya Khromykh, Ksenia Tsibinova

No Trusova so I assume she already got her spot. Also no Sinitsyna, she didn't participate in events, but I hoped she could go as national team member.
Yay!

Good to see Trusova is not there. She has her Worlds spot and she needs her training to prepare.

I am soo hoping Liza will get the third spot. This is probably her last chance for Worlds.

And YAY! for seeing Talalaikina and Nugumanova again. I have loved them this season. And it will be fun to see all the others too, this definitely will be like a mini-Nationals.

A little disappointed we won't see Sinitsyna and even Gubanova. They haven't done any Cup Stages, but they could have invited them anyway.
This was the season Sinitsyna had her little chance to go to Worlds, but unfortunately with her bad luck with injuries it was not meant to be...:(

There is also the question whether Mishin will go to the CoR final with Liza and Sonia, or to Challenge Cup with Kolyada. :scratch2:

I have a friend whose stepmother is 15 years younger than him. And they had a kid, so his sister is almost 50 years younger than him. He is pissed.
I hope like kid can have a normal life as possible.

I meant to ask Finley last night what is it about some of these pairs men and dance men that think they're God's gift to women?

Hm, well Melkumova's recent competition is right now apparently. Nice timing.

As far as I can see, very rusty overall, although her jumps seem a bit bigger. 3Flip for what I believe is the first time, but seems to be a Lip. I guess that's why she wasn't doing it before. PCS-wise, hm rusty's the word. Interpretation not as detailed or involved, skating skills just off, hopefully CSKA isn't ruining them for her. Anyway, happy she's continuing her career, and in decent form as well it seems. I assume no switch to ice dance or some such, at least for now. Which is a relief.

Krivonosova's 3rd competition in 8 days - that's pretty crazy. February 10-11, 2 days off, 13-14, 3 days off, 18-19. Anyway, as amazing as ever, and with SP points of 68.85 the scoring is about where Sofia Akatieva's was when she was half a year older.

I have aunt who is only a month older than me and five years younger than my sister.
Im getting in to this discussion with that my mom was an aunt (both maternal and paternal) from her birth to I think 3 or 4 nieces/nephews. Also my first (1st)cousin to have a grandchild happen around the time I was 10yo.
