To be honest, Alena hasn't looked like her old self since moving to Plushenko. Obviously the rinks shutting down had a big impact on everyone, but even before contracting covid Alena seemed to most struggle regaining her previous form of any top Russian woman. Anna, Sasha, Liza T, and Kamila are all essentially back to doing the same, or upgraded, content compared to last season.
Why is it bemusing to you?

How can you see that? And is Plushenko her real coach? Hasn't he left the responsibility to Rozonov? However, I would definitely say that he has no idea what to do with Aliona right now, unlike with Sasha for example. He seems totally lost and like he doesn’t have a clear plan for her, which has me really worried.
I agree with everything else you said, about Aliona trying to come back from several complications, not just Covid. But by now it is very clear Plushenko is not Aliona's coach. I doubt she takes any lessons with him at all or that he is at this competition to watch her skate. Rozanov is the one who either has a plan or not. From Plushenko's perspective, he gets paid to let Aliona train in his rink but he clearly has no interest in her, nor any incentive to help her take the 3rd Olympic spot away from Trusova. However, I would definitely say that he has no idea what to do with Aliona right now, unlike with Sasha for example. He seems totally lost and like he doesn’t have a clear plan for her, which has me really worried.

I don't think Plushenko is doing anything wrong, and like you said her current form is largely due to a string of bad luck. But I just think back to last season and how Alena would have some disappointing practices but skate much better than that in the actual competition. We'll see if she can do the same now.Aliona is a year older than Sasha and Anna as well and 17 is traditionally the ”difficult“ age for Russian ladies. On top of that she lost a lot of ice time with her sudden coaching change, then was injured, got her programs super late, had her boots break down and just when she was slowly getting back in shape, COVID sidelined her again. Like I said, she had a lot of bad luck. I don‘t think any of that can be contributed to Plushenko.

In the free Daria will surely ba last as allwaysDasha is miraculously second to last![]()

Diana and gleb did not skate all season but they are in the Russian cup ffinalarent they?you need to re-read my post - RusFed did NOT make any exceptions, they went by the rules only.
They're not skating in seniors and they're on the national team not the reserve team. (Also there is space for them.)Diana and gleb did not skate all season but they are in the Russian cup ffinalarent they?
That's a pretty sweet deal.
On ADHD, it's a pretty smart way to gain a competitive advantage.
I used to be a semi-professional video game player, it was absolutely commonplace to fake ADHD in order to get prescription for stuff like adderall, which significantly improves tournament performance.
While I hope so, I doubt it.So like. A friend just told me that Kostornaia "apparently" has a 4S now, and I come here to read, and all I find is talk about ritalin
So does she? Is it just a rumor? What is it lol

I think she'll be better off for next season if she doesn't make the world team actually. She might need both the 3A and a quad just to make the Olympic team, and if she isn't preparing for Worlds she can get started on her Olympic preparation on Monday.Nothing that we saw today based on Cup final practice indicates that she has a quad salchow or her triple axel back. And considering where she trains, I feel like if she had 1 of those 2 jumps, there would have been a social media post about it
Are you trying to torture us?So like. A friend just told me that Kostornaia "apparently" has a 4S now, and I come here to read, and all I find is talk about ritalin

To be fair, I have now messaged him twice about how she doesn't, in fact, "apparently" have it, and he hasn't replied, so IDK if he was trolling or notAre you trying to torture us?Maybe next season, for now lets just hope she rotates all her triples cleanly.
Thanks for your long answer. I think like you that she is in a good place. Whatever, we can always speculate but we don't really know. I hope Alena does well this weekend. I want her to get a world spot to end her problematic season. Would be nice to see the impressive '3A' probably together for the last time at a big competition.Just my impressions from the interviews he‘s giving. He just doesn’t seem as invested in her as in Sasha, she‘s more like an afterthought that he doesn‘t like to speak of unless directly asked about. Which is obvious, considering that taking on Aliona as a student was never in his plans. He probably just did it because she‘s a star and good publicity for his academy. Which I don‘t blame him for but it‘s not exactly good news for Aliona. She deserves a coach who is fully invested in her development to make the Olympic team.
Now Rozanov is probably that but if he’s her only coach, this is even worse. Sure, he helped her regain the 3A once, which is good. But beyond that, he has very little experience and zero credentials or power as a coach. His choreographic works so far also have been okay at best. Obviously, he seems to have a lot of talent and knowledge as a technical coach but I just wonder if he is experienced enough to handle the development of a skater with the potential and talent of Aliona all on his own. It‘s usually something you grow into over the years and I don‘t want Aliona to be his “experiment“. Someone like Mikhailov works with Sasha and has helped her a lot but he‘s not her head coach - Plushenko is. And while I‘m aware he isn‘t exactly experienced as a coach of top talents either, he at least WAS a top talent once himself and for many years, so he knows what‘s important in terms of training, injury prevention, pacing, strategy.
I don‘t think Aliona‘s situation is all bad, of course. She probably has Rozanov‘s undivided attention as his only star student, compared to Eteri where there are a dozen others. She also gets enough ice time, funding for costumes and programs by Plushenko‘s academy and sponsors. That‘s all not something to take for granted. I just wish her talent wasn‘t entirely in the hands of a seemingly talented but ultimately unproven guy.
