Been looking forward to watching the videos from skate america on youtube, but constantly get the message:

"This video is no longer available due to a copyright claim by U.S. Figure Skating"

Are they serious? Is this the end to watching figure skating on youtube, or will this only apply to competitions in the US? Any ideas on weither Canadian or chinese figure skating will follow in the same footsteps?

It may only be the US. Someone has posted in the Skate Canada thread
under "Mao Asada Rocks" a youtube video of Asada's LP.

The Skate America videos from Russian and Japanese TV are available on YouTube -- I'd just finished watching Bazarova/Larianov's exhibition before I saw this thread.

It's anything IceNetwork is covering; they managed a nearly clean sweep of Yokohama footage last month. The only stuff that survived had been put up by a Japanese poster with Japanese titles and vid descriptions, so the USFSA presumably didn't find it when they searched the site.
With Skate America they've been a little clumsy, at least so far; more stuff has slipped through. Since they're not covering any of the rest of the Grand Prix, the USFSA probably won't bother with any of that, but say goodbye to any footage from Nationals, unless someone's creative with their labeling.

It's absolutely obnoxious. It's not like they're losing money by having it on there.

The people posting should just wait a couple weeks then repost. I doubt they will continue checking and deleting for very long.

Actually, when I checked videos of Caroline Z on YT last night, everything from SA seems to be gone, including the Japanese & Russian broadcasts, as well as the 5-triple downgrade slow-mo movie Michiruter (sp?) made.

I actually have a subscription to ice-ntwk, but all their competition downloads are in big chunks, and they take as long to download as it takes to watch them in real time! That means wading through a 2-hour recording to get to the final group of skaters. It drives me crazy! :(

Found a way of skipping what you don't want to watch on icenetwork, just slide the bar that shows how much has played over to what you want if you go to far just back it up same way.

Actually, they are losing money by having it on there. USFSA has a deal with IceNetwork to broadcast their events, and IceNetwork charges customers money to see the videos. I'm sure USFSA gets a cut of the subscription costs.

Yes, I think so. Just maybe some people here wanted to see the vdo now.

no they're not gone...

you have to be a little creative to find them, but I just found caroline zhang and patrick chan (and, most important, I watched). I'm just not giving the 'code' because THEY (the solidstateofwaternetwork) are watching us...

Private Messaging is pretty awesome. Send me one. :agree:

Try again folks.
Some of them have returned and are not hard to find (zhang, chan, takahashi (is it right ?), davis/white)

Hopefully, we'll all get them all back some day...:frown:

I think they're still looking; more videos have been taken down hours after uploading, and at least one account has been newly suspended over them.
