This isn't the Grand Prix final that she won where Alina was injured stepping on the telephone cable twisting her ankle.
Injuries are part of the sport. Rika has also been injured and has a recurring ankle injury. Also Rika fell on her 3A (and I think it was downgraded) in the FS.

It's nice to see Kamila getting an airing. She has been very low profile this season, apart from one Cup stage and a couple of provincials/ A pity about the costly mistake. A bit off-topic, but disappointing not to see Daniil in KMC. Is he just off the qualifiers? (So perhaps he could get a chance.)
He's probably with Anna. She does have World's to prepare for.

Sorry, I meant Samsonov
Oh that makes sense. Hmm I know he's just coming back from injury and dealing with O-S. He hasn't competed in anything other than Junior RusNats this year, so technically he doesn't qualify for the Cup Final. I think they could have made an exception (they have in the past) but they might not have wanted to risk it. He's still only 15. He also doesn't need a junior Russian Cup victory. He's already won junior RusNats. And as for the seniors - that's mainly only relevant if he's trying to make the World's team and there is only one spot there and he's not back to full strength yet and I think he's a couple days too young. So it's just not worth it. There is no point in competing in a relatively meaningless competition. He'll be on the national team for next year and will get GP spots. The Russian Cup final is usually pretty inconsequential. it's only this year it means anything (and Liza v Med) and that's just because of a lost international season.

Just for clarification, Samsonov has won Jr Nats twice before, but was 7th at Jr Nats this year (Semenenko won).
I agree, it's much more important for him to rest and recover now. Osgood Schlatter's is growth-related and goes away with time, so hopefully he'll be back to his normal level next season.

Daria  Her skating is so big and effortless. It comes from the legs and the core. Those edges in the StSq :love::love: Her carriage is to die for. The graceful arms and extension all the way through to her fingertips. She just keeps getting better.

That was my biggest impression from the SP. I can write some more thoughts on the ladies after the FS :) Good luck to all. It’s a treasure that we get to see so much great skating from these Russian ladies so often.

Gentle souls, pray tell at what time is the Russian Cup LP? Does anyone has a link to the streaming? Thanks!

I'm not worried about Alena missing a 3T of her combo, but rather about her coaching situation and mental state.

It's clear there are some heavy misjudgments and or disinterest going on in her coaching situation- changing both programs 2 weeks before a do or die competition. Plushenko's ego horse in this race is clearly Sasha, not Alena. And if Alena was to take someone's spot to the Olympcis it would be Sasha's (if Usacheva doesn't clear that up for both of them by getting an ultra-c).
Rosanov is her coach and I'm sure he does his very best, but what is the extent of a single inexperienced first time coach's "very best"?
She has an overly emotional personality to begin with and I would hate nothing more than for today's dumb little Russian cup show to be the last skate we see of the most stunning skater in years.

I agree with everything star.

Crazy thing changing 2 programs this late in the season I've never seen this before from a world class skater. What alyona needed in this competition even more than being clean was stability and changing programs so soon before a competition was essentially Russian roulette with this girl's career. A more experience coding that would not have allowed this to happen. No one can really control Corona virus that also had devastating results or Alyona this season with her inability to train consistently.

We know who the top 3 are in the Olympic season heading into it that would be Sasha Anna and KV The KaMissile.

It's interesting I think the second group of 3 is going to be Dasha Liza T and alyona at this point. If Maya gets a quad she gets in the mix with the 2nd group. Plus she looks like a model and If she gets an ultra jump watch out. I feel the same way about Dasha if she gets an ultra move watch out because the judges already love her she already gets the EG bounce and that's without her winning any significant events.

What happens if Zhenya returns next season healthy? Could she squeeze into the second group?

3rd group of 3 of the Russian ladies could have like 6 or 7 contending for that 3 spots and we can all figure out who they could be. A couple of the Saint Petersburg girls for sure.

I'm not sure alyona will part ways with PA.
She does I would like to see her go back to TT if the door is still open or to Davydov at CSKA. He could help her with the technical aspects and a quad and a triple axel. some of his girls already do those ultra Cs and she already has the beautiful skating so she doesn't need to be taught that. He could help her with the technical aspects and a quad and a triple axel. some of his girls already do those jumps and she already has the beautiful skating so she doesn't need to be taught that I would also to see her consider Rukavicin in St. Petersburg. Alyona will be graduating high school in May or June so then she could go to Saint Petersburg and train with this coach who does a good job with the ladies and obviously Alyona would be number one there.
His top ladies are beautiful and skate beautifully but they are not in Alyonas league if she is healthy. She would also be the number one at CSKA and she probably needs to go where she's number 1 if she leaves PA. She is not the number one lady at PA and never will be with Sasha there. Plushie didn't even really go after her from what we know AK just kind of fell into his lap as she was upset with a few things at TT and young Sergei was already there so that was the place for her to move to in her mind.

With worldwide vaccinations going on you know China is gonna do the best they can to get the people in Beijing vaccinated the athletes are going to be vaccinated the Olympics are definitely going to happen in Beijing.

It's going to be a wild and crazy Olympic season for the Russian ladies so get your popcorn ready your alcohol ready and your Alka-Seltzer ready. ;)

I tend to agree with you about Daria. She is very special and her style does not resemble that of Kamilla. Queen Tut should be applauded for her ability to see and develop each skater's individuality. I do believe, though, that Daria's choice of musical score is ill advised. Her talents deserve better. IMO.

She is a fabulous skater. Personally, far more to my taste than Valieva. However, she always gets the worst programs. I am hoping for better choices next year.
