Yeah my prayers are with her, her husband/partner who probably feels horrible now, and anyone close to her. Lets hope for the best.

I fixed the thread title for you so don't be upset. Thanks for starting the thread for Melissa. The last update I heard is that she's responsive, alert, and undergoing more tests. Hopefully there's more news later today and I pray that she's going to be all right. This was not news I wanted to hear today. She's one of my favorite people and such a sweetheart. I'm sure Denis is very shaken up too.

No problem. If I hear anything else before I have to leave (I have a meeting at 6 PM EST), I'll make sure I post it here. I think I'm in a state of shock that this happened to them because it hasn't quite registered for me yet. I just feel numb.

according to what I just read on another website, the hospital is keeping Melissa for observation but expects to release her tonight.

I am definitely sending good thoughts to Melissa and Denis. They are such sweethearts and I am devastated that this happened to them. Hopefully we'll be hearing some good news soon.

From Sylvia over at FSU (I'm sure she just hasn't gotten around to posting here yet so hopefully she doesn't mind if I do it for her):

"At 2:30 p.m. ET, the hospital announced that Gregory would remain there under observation for three more hours, after which she is expected to be released."

I'm told this good news was also announced in the arena.

I hope that they did a cat scan on Denis too though. He hit his head pretty hard too as he went crashing into the boards.

I just want to give them big hugs right now and I am very thankful for the updates that have been posted so far... it sounds so much better than the results I had going through my head (I'm a pessimist's pessimist! LOL)

That's the same news CBC gave during their men's LP broadcast this afternoon and it sounds promising. :agree:I hope both Melissa and Denis will be okay...that was one scary looking fall!

As Kurt said this afternoon (paraphrasing here), it's a beautiful sport, but it's a dangerous one too and should be respected.
