If Alena goes back, she'll probably get another new set of program cause its not like Eteri going to bother with the choreo from the "world class foreign choregrapher promised by Plushenko." Which means she will have gone through 8 programs in under one year. 2 from Danill G last July, 4 from Plushenko camp. And probably 2 new ones before this July. Wow!

Maybe she'd just go back to those two programs? I do like the new set of programs she has now. Those first two were not good though...

Eteri has never held anyone back (even when they're her favourites) - as long as they can skate their programs reasonably consistently - and even then is willing to allow them to try way harder programs then they need to win, like Sasha and Kamila just recently. The issue is at that point, they start struggling with consistency and fall so many times that their BV can't save them. In fact, she's the one who insisted that Aliona learn the 3A when she was too scared to before her international senior debut.

it’s not about their capacities, it’s about leaving her.

I’m glad Alina listened to her and didn´t give up.

Really? When/where?

Which questionable interview? With Doug and TSL?

if Sasha did try to come back at some point, maybe it was under the conditions that they wouldn't try to limit her jumping again, and they were against it so they said no. it wouldn't necessarily have to be Eteri outright refusing her.
The rumor that Sasha wanted to go back to Eteri had its origins in Valieva's fan group. This actually says it all. Any further word is superfluous. Sasha is fine.

I think i would be surprised if Eteri didn't take her back. she has nothing to lose from it whatsoever. if Sasha did try to come back at some point, maybe it was under the conditions that they wouldn't try to limit her jumping again, and they were against it so they said no. it wouldn't necessarily have to be Eteri outright refusing her.
One reason Eteri might refuse Aliona is to make it clear that she doesn't want this situation happening on the regular, where students leave her on bad terms and then are accepted back when they come begging. My heart would break for Aliona if Eteri decided to set an example. It would be humiliating, and she would be left stranded without a coach.

only hope at least some of those reports were merely an excuse for Alena's poor performanc
This report didn't come from Plushenko but rather the head of Sambo70. Her health appears to be very bad indeed. Stress fractures, COVID-19, and apparent angina as a result of COVID-19. I couldn't care less who coaches Aliona but that didn't sound like a physical condition compatible with training.

I think Lakernik or Gorshkov would push Eteri hard to take her back. They wouldn’t want one of Rusfed’s Crown Jewels to end up with no coach at all. Especially if Aliona already expressed her desire to come back to Eteri specifically.

Eteri might also appreciate Aliona’s courage to come personally. Whether she would agree or not is still a big question though. If not, I don’t know what she will do. Yana might be already busy taking Aliona’s things out of that little house by now.
To be honest, I have wondered if Lakernik himself had not "suggested" that move. I have no element to support it, and I don't think it more likely than other possible reasons, I just see it as one possible reason among many.
