I believe that D/S OD is the best I have seen this year, I have yet to see D/S of France to decide though. But out of all I have seen, it is a clear winner.

I think V/M will fit in just fine this year and content with the best, both this year and the next years leading to 2010. I love how they make everything look so simple yet they still complete difficult moves. If they dont win a medal this year they will the next. They seem to be getting better and better each year. I am a huge fan!

I'm sure V/M will be in the Finals. They will get a medal somehow in the next skate. Once in the Finals, they will be confirmed Top Contenders. JMO and several millions of Canadians. They have a style and not like one is used to.

I liked Carron/Jost well enough, not having seen them before, until the original dance, where they skated to a Québécois song that's really popular these days here (in Québec). I hate when skaters so blatantly manipulate the local crowd into liking them. You should have seen the standing O and thundering applause. :sheesh:
I love the song (and I'm not quebecoise). But really, they have plenty of other competitions, including another GP, nationals, and if they are lucky Euros and just maybe worlds, which will not be in Quebec. I would assume that they won't change their OD to cater to these other audiences. Maybe they just like the song and style???
I agree Dom/Shab OD is fabulous .Don't count out the russians ever

wow, what an accusation. I mean, there's no way they chose that music just to cater to the quebequoise crowd. I mean, a GP event is so minor compared to Worlds anyway. Why on earth would you think so badly of them?

Virtue and Moir were stunning at Skate Canada. Personaly, I think that they will beat Belbin/Agosto this year, although I am biased. I've been a diehard V/M fan for years, and have never been partial to the Americans. I will be most interested to see how V/M stack up against D/S in Japan. I know that people have said that the field has been weakened this year, with D/L and D/S sitting this one out, but I disagree. Honestly, and this is JMO, I think that V/M would have won Skate Canada even if Dubreuil/Lauzon were still around. Not sure how they would have faired against the Bulgarians. This season is going to be so interesting, since there are now no clear cut favourites. I still think that V/M will get a world medal this year.

I think you didn't understand what I mean, Joesitz. Russians can use "Dark Eyes" all they want: it's Russian folklore, they're russian.
What I deplored in terms that seem to have offended, is that the French used a song that is not folklore to their country, no offence in that, but that over here is really popular at this very moment, and that talks of Québec's current problems with urbanisation and the loss of our countryside roots and pride in the land (It's my humble interpretation, at least). This year, at least, it is some kind of an anthem in Québécois parties, and I thought it was really manipulative, a way to gain the crowd's sympathy without too much trouble: the song is really that popular and can't help but appeal to patriot sentiments, something that was not really in its place coming from a French pair.
In other words, what offended me was not the fact that they used a QUébécois song, it was that they used it in Québec city. Furthermore, and I have no time right now to verify, but Carron-Jost are not the first French ice dancing team: wouldn't Skate Canada be their big event this year? Sure, they'll prolly go to Euros, maybe worlds, but they'll be overshadowed by D/S, no?

Hmm -- hard to say, because I don't know how V/M's speed and power compare to D/L's. Sure, they looked faster and more powerful than everyone else at SC, but that was a weak field. NHK will be the first true test.

I'm sorry Olenksa. I see what you're saying. I guess not being a quebecoquise myself I had trouble understanding how you as a native may feel about it and realizing how complex the issue really is. But I sincerely do hope it wasn't deliberate on their part, as their dance was quite good I must say.....

I wouldn't be surprised if V&M beat B&A in any competition. V&M are on a way up steadily while B&A are on the way down or rather struggling to stay at the same level. V&M are my new favorite. JMO.
