Interesting post from Skating Scores:
Shoma's SP: What this man does with his skates is from another planet. If he doesn't get 9s in PCS, then I don't understand the world anymore. I see the Judges have him under 9 for Choreo, only because he missed the axel, someone should grab them by the ear and ask them what's wrong with them! I'm really angry about these PCS marks.

Have to agree. He landed two quads and skated beautifully in every way except for the fall and you would think his performance and reputation would award him at least what he deserves in the moment. It would have made it more realistic for him in the hunt for top 3.I know it's not the judges job to keep him in the hunt by awarding PCS but..... We shall see.

I'm so exhausted after this! 😄 Not perfect, but could've been worse! (still angry at that 3A though *shakes fist*)
Stéphane continues to deliver with his interactions with Shoma 😂 Most importantly, Shoma looked happy. Hoping he looks even happier after his FS!

whew I survived, I forgot what competitions with Shoma in the lineup do to me

Very unfortunate mistake on the 3A. It could have been a really good sp. I won’t start a rant about pcs scoring at this competition.
He’s always been a better FS skater and it all depends on it now so fingers crossed 🤞 you can do this Shoma

There’s a yt video with the SP available, I don’t know for how long though

I signed up for NBC Peacock Premium only so I can watch Shoma in real time. I hope he can find the strength to be happy about the good parts of his program. In general, I don’t like competitions (maybe except the MLB because they have multiple games to decide the winner). So no matter his rank, I enjoyed watching his skating more than watching any other participant. I don’t know why, it’s hard to explain, but he looks perfect on ice. I hope one day I can enjoy his skating in person, at an ice show. No pressure, no scores, just his genuine having fun skating. Until then, I’ll continue watching him on the Internet, even if all he does is skating in circles on a frozen lake.

Welcome to the Shoma thread!

Starting my Friday with this to pump me up  I'm sad that this may be the last Grespi SP and there was no crowd to cheer and clap for it, but Shoma brought the power and the 🔥🔥🔥🔥

Edited to add: wait, there's at least someone in the crowd (TM). Whoever went "WHOOOOO!!!", thanks for receiving my astral projection of wanting to cheer for Shoma in person

Yoshikoshi will kill me? Is that a jump coach? His boot tech?
Oh, is THAT the word he said? All I could think of was Your (something), and I didn't know what that was. Can't remember if it's the boot guy. ADDING -- I double checked. Not the boot guy. That was Hachiguchi.

I'm so used to him staying on his feet now that I was shocked when he fell on the 3A. It wasn't really a splat - it was more like a stumble when the blade got caught. Darn. A shame! However, he never lost the power of the performance. That's the type of program that thrives with the audience being engaged, so I was proud of him that he gave an energetic performance, in spite of no audience. Level 4 on 2 spins and step seq., 1 Level 3 spin. Nice fight! Sho, Kolyada, and Keegan are SO close -- separated by less than a point. It's gonna be an exciting free skate! :dbana:

Good move! I always liked streams with no commentary, but Mark Hanretty is doing a really good job. The stream has been absolutely perfect. No buffering, cutting out, etc. If you scroll all the way down, you can find replays of all the various disciplines. Quite a bargain, all for $4.99 for a month!

🎢Welcome to GS and the wild ride known as Shoma Uno. He's great online and even greater in person! 💜
