I see. Does Russia have anything like Safesport to protect these young skaters? How can any authority watch that clip and not at least isuue a warning of some kind.

Yulia can work with kids but she could be useful in other areas as well. Especially since she's already gone through what Alyona and other girls are going through. It seems like Ilinykh has been gone from AoP long before the Cup final, and Lipnitskaia appears to work only with the younger kids, so she probably had no interaction with Kostornaia.
I just saw the video not only is on a firable offense legal action could be possible not to mention criminal action. The baby girl looked about 5 or 6 years old. Terrible.Who is she and whatever rink that is, they should fire her. It's disturbing.

More of a support role. I find it hard to believe alyona would not want to discuss things periodically with yulia even if yulia was only working with 8 year olds. But that ship has saled. The beautiful skater is back at TT hopefully finding her form again..Well Lipnitskaia might not want to work with the higher level skaters at this time, especially if it means having to share her 'experiences' from her hellish experience post-team performance. Prior to coaching at AoP she was doing those 'master class' and training camps in small rinks with Ilinykh, probably young skaters that were of the 'skating is an after school activity' vs. hardcore want to go to the Olympics skaters.
Right, you can tell by the way that "Coach" just skates away like this was no big deal. I've seen dancers fall and hurt themselves and the teacher and all the dancers react and run to the dancers side. These students have clearly seen this before because most, not all, but most, had very little reaction. We all know how loud it can be when blades skip into a fall. The group directly with her was not that large so you know they heard it. Just shocking!I just saw the video not only is on a firable offense legal action could be possible not to mention criminal action. The baby girl looked about 5 or 6 years old. Terrible.
Is this woman still coaching the peewees?I don’t know the exact procedure/authority in Russia for cases like this, but the case gained a lot of publicity and outrage. They are discussing banning the coach for life, not just for a certain period. Former champions also spoke and said that should not be tolerated. Good that the patent at the rink filmed it, so that the coach can no longer work with children.

My favorite Art History professor in college (many years ago) wisely said “one has a right and duty to appreciate beauty in everyone and everything.. done tastefully. It is one of God’s great gifts.”Hehe, I can see that Eastern Europe gets triggered so fast. And I say this in the best of ways, with me having a third of eastern europe ancestry as well.
Anyways, good discussion. l do think there's a difference in saying:
1) "You like nice tonight" or "You're so cute/you look so hot!" to your friend or known party and in accordance to the context of the event (including FS competitions)
Than saying:
2) "She's nice to look at" to your male coworkers, while looking 'thirsty' looking at her butt and in the context of objectifying a person being reduced to a 'trophy wife' title.
I was referring to the later. "She is nice to look at" is not the same a saying "she looks nice". Depending on the context, there could be an implied despective tone to the first phrase which is to what I was referring.
Going back to the skating, Elena always looks nice. But, to me, she is not reduced to being only a pretty object that decorates AoP rinks. She is pretty and has a great a talent for dancing.

Coaches have bad days to just like the rest of us but that was beyond inexcusable violence against a child. We don't know what this girl can become in the future as a figure skater but an incident like this can scar her for life although I hope she can shake it off. That was absolute abuse by the coach.
Are we to believe this is the 1st time this coach ever put her hands on a child or is it a pattern? My guess is this coach has done this before. Poor kid was probably tired and moving slowly for what the coach wanted but thats when you have to really be a coach and talk to the child.
This is very true. I've certainly had bad days where I ask another coach, or even an advanced student to run a practice because I wasn't feeling well. If this coach was losing patients with these skaters, she should have asked an older student to take over for her while she clamed down. Better yet, send the class on a break. A good 10 minute break can calm everyones nerves and reset the mood.I hope this woman gets investigated deeply.

It wasn’t the first time; she was suspended two years ago for similar behaviour. That’s exactly why people want serious consequences.I hope this woman gets investigated deeply.

The Federation needs to do more to police their coaches. It's a shame this happened and it's embarrassing to especially since so many people think of some Russian coaches as being too harsh as it is. But what happened with this lady coach and the child is very different. This is very true. I agree leaves that there needs to be serious consequences. Suspended for six months or fired? 6 year old kids skaters are going to frustrate coaches that should not have happened. I worry about the kid hopefully she can shake it off. But her getting ragdolled by her coach is going to be on the internet forever. It wasn’t the first time; she was suspended two years ago for similar behaviour. I tell you what. When I was dancing in Russia, I thought it was the best place outside of Canada that I had ever danced. The teachers had high expectations and motivated us to reach them. I loved the dicipline and I thrived there. However, I would have been on a plane home if any teacher had ever struck or pushed me or a fellow dancer. The problem is THIS Coach and possibly this rink since I didn't see anyone rush onto the ice after they saw what happened. The Federation needs to do more to police their coaches. I'm glad you never had an experience like that from a coach I can't imagine how horrible it must be for that little girl. There seems to be a nonchalant on ice reaction to shall I say aggression on that child.I tell you what.
