She was great I agreeBased on the SP and 'so far' I would think Maria would get a JGP assignment.
Last year test skates didn't look very well, the improvement came quite soon however. So unusual to see so many mistakes at test skates from Russian ladies. On my memory, most are usually very clean.
This is indeed one rule that makes zero, zero sense. I mean, I can accept ‘no quads for ladies yet in SP because of rarity’, but why junior ladies specifically cannot use single 3A, but can combo it… beats me. I don’t understand the logic. I guess, maybe it artificially reduces the scoring differences in the short in 3A vs 2A and forces performance of 2A, but it’s a convoluted logicIt's ridiculous that 13 y/o girls are being forced by the ISU to attempt 3axel-TRIPLETOE instead of just having the option of upgrading the required 2axel. What's with the ISU? They want to burn out and destroy little girls' bodies before they even make it to Seniors? And then they want to raise the age limit so all these little bodies will be destroyed by the time they are 17/18? Good call, ISU and those who support age restrictions. *eyeroll*
It makes no sense to put such pressure on young girls to expect them to attach a 3toe onto a 3axel at 13 y/o. And really the risk is NOT worth the reward. At least if they only had to upgrade the solo 2Axel to a triple the point difference is substantial. But switching a Lutz to an Axel in a combo is really not worth it, because not only do you have to land the 3axel you then have to land a 3toe after it or it doesn't work out mathematically. A 3lutz-3toe is worth more than a 3axel-2toe. (Just the ISU trying to burn out little girls before they even hit puberty. Great job ISU and to those who support raising the age limits.)
Was she a rising star in novice group then, making Junior debut?Ulyana born June 2007

They are not forcing anyone. 3A+3T being legal is not specific rule for juniors. It's hole in the rules which gifted juniors are abusing nowadays. At the time required jumps rules for junior SP were made - it was deemed impossible to jump 3A for junior girls. So they wrote as required element 'triple jump combination' completely ignoring the fact that 3A is considered triple jump as well. Since then situation changed - but you know how ISU is extremely slow and conservative organization? If they allowed using mp3 flash drives instead of CD disks for music only this year - it would be naive to expect them to change required jumps rule this soon )) Maybe 10 or 20 years later they will begin to think about it, who knows? This is indeed one rule that makes zero, zero sense.
What a rare opinion. All I read everywhere is how boring and awful these test skates/programs were.Just got home and catched up. ALL the girls were wonderful.

I hope so, I see it's starting soon. Hopefully we will see better performances today..I truly hope Sadkova goes clean today as she really needs to impress if she wants a shot at a jgp assignment.
