COR ladies free

God, I'm just sooooooooooo happy,
maybe I'll go outside singing in the rain.:laugh:
Congratulations to YuNa! I feel happy for you, BFY, as well as all the YuNa fans as a whole.
I'm one of her admirers too, you know. Can't wait to see the broadcast 12 hours from now (TV-Asahi).

There is only one skater that can keep the gold medal from YuNa this season.

They will meet face to face in Torino.

Joe

Exactly.. And the other skater is going to have to upgrade her jump content. In order to have a shot. A five triple performance will not cut it if Mao wants to beat Yu-na.

Wow.....It looks that Yu-Na Kim is well on her way to win the World title this season :)

Her biggest concerns are her back, and not peaking too early. Mao and even Kimmie could be working towards building for Worlds. I hope Yu Na isnt peaking too early, we will see. It looks good for her at the moment though.

I think Yu-na's okay there. She skated this well in the early season her last Junior year and was undefeated...It probably helps her confidence too, to start delivering good long programs... Besides, scarily enough there are things she can still work on...And her shorts haven't been clean...

sorcerer, that's very sweet of you to say:)
Gotta love your kindness....

WOW! huge score - can't wait to see this one! Congrats to Yu-Na. And way to go Rochetter for coming back - here's hoping some time to focus and practice hard will make her Nationals wonderful!

I wonder is Joannie is worrying too much about the 3/3 in the short and not enough about just getting the job done. Had she not been so far back in the short she would have had the silver no prob! Esp since it does seem that the order of skate is playing a big part in the PCS scores. That all important 3/3 in the short seems to be where her focus is this season. And so far she has had problems in the short because of it. But once it is out of her focus she comes back strong in the long! If she gets over the hurdle and lands in cleaning in one comp I think we will see better placements for Joannie.
I also think that's the reason Jeff is not doing so well this year so far. He's too fucused on the Quad. Last year with the injury and it was out of the picture he was doing better even with the limited time on the ice. It seems that once skaters start worrying and focusing in on one jump it throws their whole skate off.
I also know with both these top skaters this is the year to be focusing on these jumps so they will be ready for the next Olympics. And in regards to that end they prob are not too concerned with not making the GPF this year.

Congrats to YuNa, quite the score but if anyone deserves it is YuNa.
Good for Joannie I suspect that this will give her confidence for the rest of the season. She is such a wonderful all around skater. Beauty on the ice.

I feel bad for Fumie circumstances. I admit I have a soft spot for her. Unfortunately it seems like right know she is competing in a field of ladies that she cannot catch.

Thanks for all of the reports.

Honestly, I think that Joannie would have helped herself a lot if she actually went for the 3/3 in the long program. In fact, I would think that it would be much smarter to put it there first before putting in your short program. Yu-na did that combination throughout her 2005-2006 Junior season in her long program, and had a high rate of hitting it... I'm sure it helped Yu-na a lot when it came time for going for it in the short program as a Senior...Why she doesn't attempt it in the long boggles my mind.

I feel for Joannie... Her total combined score with Skate Canada and Cup of Russia, is the fouth highest on the GP series this year, and will probably remain so.. She belongs in the GP final, but had the bad luck of having to face Yukari in both competitions.

Her scores would have won her Skate America, and gotten her second at Cup of Russia, and Cup of China, but what can you do?

No, she came in 3rd at cup of Russia. You mean TEB?

Yay for Joannie! This is exactly what she needed. She was pretty good @ SC, and much better here. People have to stop ruling her out. Her stage presence is unbelievable. Take it from someone who has seen her live. It really sucks that she's gonna be just squeaked out of the final like last year. I hope that won't shatter her confidence after these good results. I still don't agree with there being such a point gap between Yu Na and the rest of the field. But hey, I'm no expert. Anyways, Go Joannie! I hope this sets her up for an awsome season.

But you have to remember that as the season goes on, people generally get better.

In other words, Joannie may have skated worse at Skate America than she did in Skate Canada or CoR, becuase she would have had less time to prepare. So comparing her scores to other people's SA scores is not a fair comparison.

After watching her FS several times, it looked like most of Yu-Na's jumps were under-rotated, a few even cheated. The 3Lo for example. Perhaps her take-offs weren't as pre-rotated as others, though. I'd like to see better replays. Her spins weren't centered. Her PCS was a bit inflated, IMO. I don't believe that this was the best FS in years and yet it was scored as such. The scoring standards appeared to be significantly lower than they were at Skate America. A very good skate, but over-scored nonetheless.

Triple-triples weren't allowed in junior ladies shorts until the 2006-2007 season so Yu Na had to try it in the long first while competing at junior events.

Still your point about it being a better idea to introduce big tricks in the long before the short is valid. There is less pressure in missing a trick psychologically in the long because you have far more tricks in the long than the short so there is far less to fall back on in the short.

Huh? So your a judge on underrotation?:p
