gosh, why is fumie's TES so low? I thought she was as good as Joannie yet their TES is 20 points apart. But then, I'm not much of as technical observer of figure skating. Could anyone care to break down the elements?

She is gorgeous.
2R...*sigh*
2Z-2T...hope she can get it together
3F fall, she doesn't seem to have enough speed
Spiral sequence, quite nice
Layback into catchfoot into Kwan position
3S-2T, nice
3R-2T-2R, very nice
2A, saves landing
Combo spin, positions are quite nice
3R, smart change to program
Circular steps, to music but rather slow
Flying sit spin
Final combo spin

Not really her night, and she lacked speed, but she did come back later in the program. She is awfully tall!

96.04 - 2nd in LP, 2nd overall with 154.26

Yukari Nakano, I don't know she is credited for triple axel or not since my internet web tv is not so good.

Overall a clean performance, she should be proud of herself.

Capriccio Espagnol
Very bright salmon outfit

3A, better than SC! But still not completely rotated...I think it was more than enough
3F-2T, I personally think her wrap adds character to her skating...
Combo spin with great positions throughout except the layback
3Z, nice
3S, nice
Flying sit spin
Combo spin, she is a great spinner
Spiral sequence, decent
3F, nice
3T-2T-2R, very clean and good flow
Circular steps, very musical if not that fast
3S-2T, clean skate! The toe axel was a bit more conspicuous here
Flying camel into her to-die-for donut

YES! She will probably get a slightly lower FS score than Joannie but finish ahead over her thanks to that 10 point SP lead....
She seems happy in the KnC for the first time like, ever

112.27 - 2nd in LP but 1st overall with 172.77

CMOOOOON YU-NA!!
3F-3T, gorgeous as always
3R, nice
Flying sit into pancake
She handles the changes in the music well
3Z-2T, quite nice
Spiral sequence, much better than last year
2A-3T, lovely
3Z, slightly scratchy but cleanly done!
3S, lovely and light
Changefoot sit, a bit slow but good positions
SLSS looks smoother than CoC
Ina Bauer into 2A
Very nice combo spin to close

WHOOOOO! She seems very happy (and so does Brian Orser!). Easily a PB. Partial standing ovation.

133.70 - 1st with a HUGE HUGE HUGE score and 1st overall with 197.20, even she seems shocked by the score. Both are big PBs!

Just checked...Yu-Na's LP score is a new world record.

Yeap, and can we make it official and say that Yu-na has established herself as the world's best skater this season, with Mao Asada falling behind her to a 2nd best. (So far, mind you.. All could change come GP Final and Worlds.)

Seems like Joannie is just at the cut-off point for the GP final and that she might get cut off.

Looking at the protocols, Yukari's 3A was ratified but she was downgraded on her first lutz and flip. Fumie also had a lutz and flip downgraded. Yukari got dinged for a lip, but Fumie's lutzes were not called flutzes.

Thank you mizu_iro for program component break-downs. I'm not a technical observer of figure skating and it helps a lot. I still don't get how Yukari's FS score could be lower than Joannie's. I think Yu-na, Yukari and Joannie all did 7 triples and Joannie either steped out or put her hand down on a couple of them. Is it the difficulty in the levels of the kinds of triples they did that made the difference? And as much as I am Yu-na's fan, I thought there was too much gap between her scores and Yukari and Joannie. Maybe it's because I don't understand how the points are distributed.

It's because of Yukari's downgrades. She was short of rotation on two jumps, so she only received credit for them as doubles. I don't really disagree with that...her wrap does give her rotation problems. Joannie's triples, when landed, are always rotated, and this was a kickass free from her even with the slight mistakes.

Yukari's two big jumps were downgraded to double. She was given credit for triple axel, though;)

I see. Thank you so much. Wow, those judges have sharp eyes. Figure skating IS a sport afterall. Just looking at how they presented themselves, I thought Yukari looked elegant and secure (minus those wrapping legs when she jumps) and I love her salmon costume color and style. But technically she's not complete, I see.
