I would put it differently. It's absolute OK for non-Russians to put whatever "critical analysis" of Russian skaters in RLT. but once a Russian "provides shade" here it's an immediate response with posts like that.

If "critical analysis" is equal as "shade" then I think we are starting with the wrong foot here.

Isabeau Levito and Josephine Lee are both in the 4th and last SP group in Courcheval. There's pretty good competition from the Korean athletes and probably a few others as well. Ahsun Yun and Seoyeon Ji both skated last week as well and might be more accustomed to the altitude (plus it seems that Ahsun performed below her potential in the SP after missing the combo).

I do understand the issue with the women's field. I saw somewhere (perhaps a post? I would like to acknowledge but I don't know where I saw it) that an expanded Grand Prix Final field, perhaps choosing six "normally" and then the next three by scores? There is no good answer, but this seems reasonable.

Then everyone can skate face to face, or blade to blade.

I don't see how this could be Lindsay's Call. Barring an injury, skaters go where the Fed sends them. This is just me but, I would rather compete against the best as often as I could to prepare for the big events. They will all meet at Junior Worlds and the sooner they see how they stack up against the best, the better off they will be. IMO, of course.

I would say Karen for her layback maybe? But tbh all of the top US women have fast, solid spins.

Chen has the best layback, but I very honestly think the best overall American spinner is Bradie Tennell. I especially have a very high opinion of her combination I-spin; I think it’s the top three best in the world. Fast, centered, and a beautiful position (no head bending!). People don’t talk about her spins enough really. A skater doesn’t have to be a contortionist to have a beautiful spin. I think this is something that is often forgotten.

This is a good question. She was an amazing show skater but, I haven't seen her on the ice in years. I know she has a college degree but I'm not sure what she majored in.

Alissa is one of my favorite skaters of all time. she was so exquisite. she's been doing seminars and shows lately. i hope she coaches or choreographs someday, she'd be amazing at it.

on another note, Isabeau was wonderful today and the judges love her. add in a bit more speed and she will really have it all.

Alissa still skates in shows: Has done SOI US in recent years. She is now a member of IDI (Ice Dance International) and will be doing seminars and shows with them, and when she's not doing all of that she coaches.
