When referring to highest TOTAL scores, a single score result doesn't mean much. It's the total of TWO event scores that is of interest.

Chaeyeon KIM KOR 379.92
Kaiya RUITER CAN 357.52
Seoyeon JI KOR 342.61
Ahsun YUN KOR 333.38

When the top Russian women complete their second event, you can bet their total scores will be well over 400. And we haven't seen the 5 Russian women from Krasnoyarsk yet.

At least post-Krasnoyarsk, there can be no more than 2 Russian women per event.

Since we don’t know how the ISU will handle Final Junior Grand Prix assignments and given that most skaters have not had an opportunity to skate in two events let alone one, I think highest total scores received from whatever event they were in is a good barometer.

also from Champs Camp observer, on Alysa: "she did some 3As but no 4Lz. she only ran her short. idk if she could have a 4lz planned in the long tho. she’s looking solid as usual tho!"

Its still early in the season and given what we've seen/heard of the other US ladies, she doesn't need that quad to get on the Olympic team. And I think it would do her better to perfect the triple axel, building up her layout to have the 3 triple axels (1 in the SP, 2 in the FS) then trying to add a quad and possibly end up with multiple sloppy under-rotated ultra-difficult jumps.

There have been only 3 events, and the Russians just skated in their first one.
At SVK, the Russians earned gold and silver in Men; gold and bronze in Pairs; silver and bronze in Dance, and swept the podium in Women.

You can expect even better results at Krasnoyarsk, where there are 5 Russian entries in Men, Women and Dance, and 4 in Pairs; furthermore, few countries are sending their top competitors to such a home-loaded event.

Then the Russians will send their top medalists to the remaining events, where they will likely garner more medals and even higher scores.

So whether the JGP is decided by total points or medals, you can bet that most if not all the JGPFinalists will be Russian.

I agree with this 100%. At this point, Bradie is the #1 US Lady and she doesn't have a quad of any kind. Alysa should not risk an injury, especially this early in the season. After the Nationals of Japan, Russia, and other strong countries, she can re-assess her programs accordingly. Her health is paramount this season and she should pace herself and her programs to make sure she's ready for the Olympics.

Alysa probably saw her domestic competition and thought, her 3Lz 3T combo in the second half is enough….. 😝; i don’t believe anyone else does this. I wish I knew how well she was executing her 3As. I guess I’ll find out later on this week in Italy. I never liked Alysa 4Lz…. I hope she sticks to 3A and then three 3A’s layouts and just focus on artistry and improving her programs. Also, once she has mastered the 3A, I would rather her practice 3Lz 3Lo combos instead. That combo would be useful over an under rotated quad. If Alysa is consistent, I can see her slowly build her way to 230+ scores with this planned technical content.

Now that I'm starting to hear more about champs camp, I'm not sure Bradie will make the team-I'm not sure she has enough time to heal from her injures. So it will be Alysa, Karen and probably Audrey. Outside shot for Lindsay if she finds a way to pick up the speed between now and Nationals.

Bradie WD from US Classic... I don't know the extent of her injury or anything, but it seems pretty serious. Hopefully she is recovered in time for SkAm, although having to skip Challengers/Senior B's will probably hurt her a lot.
I have a feeling she will withdraw from SkAm as well. Zhenya was also injured during the Olympic season, and of course put on the Olympic team. I would hope that the USFSA would take the injury into account if Bradie is able to throw it down at Nationals. She may need to take herself out of all the pre-season challengers and GP's.

If Lindsay starts landing the 3A consistently I'd put her chances of making the team above Audrey's. Even without it, she scored higher at Courchevel I than Audrey did at Cranberry. Of course, Audrey is working on a 3A and 4T too, but last we saw they were still only on harness.

I'm in Italy at the moment and I really want to go see Alysa at Lombardia this week. :giggle: Does anyone know how to get tickets? I can't find anything online. I may just show up at the door and hope for the best .
You could try calling or emailing the organizer, Ice Lab: +390350276047 or [email protected] !

Do you really think Audrey has a better chance than Lindsay? Lindsay was scored conservatively in her JGP and, yet, her total was higher than Audrey has ever scored at a true international event. Audrey has a major UR problem. It wasn't caused by the injury. She has always had this problem. Maybe she will improve, but it's difficult to correct URs in 5 months when they have long been your habit.

If Bradie and Amber don't recover from injury in time, and Mariah doesn't get her jumps in order, I would think Lindsay would be a better bet than Audrey. Anyway, we will see how the rest of the season goes..

But if both Karen and Audrey make the Olympic team, people better pray for lenient technical calling.

Didn’t Bradie have to WD from her challengers in 2019? IIRC, she is was fine after that. But I hope that both Bradie and Amber are okay.

This also happened with Michelle Kwan during the 2004 season. She skipped all the Senior B's and the GP. As the defending Champion, she had a bye into Nationals and ended up winning there. If Bradie is healthy and skates well at Nationals, I absolutely see her on the team if she finishes on the Podium. I love Lindsay but, unless she Wins Nationals, I wouldn't put her on the team ahead of Bradie, Karen, or Alysa if they end up as the top 4 Ladies. I'm really on the fence with Mariah these days. I expected big things after her amazing performances at the 2020 Nationals.

I sure do too, considering I have tix to SkateAm. Their injuries plus the Russian Fed admitting they are having trouble getting visas for their skaters are starting to make this event look much less interesting.

I cancelled my SkAm plans a few weeks ago and I'm glad I did. What if Bradie and Amber aren't ready for SkAm? Who else gets the spots to SkAm, then? Please don't say Gracie Gold....

They really should go with the youngster and the jumps over notorious underrotator.

Is Gracie listed as a Sub for Skate America? At this point, I think the Fed is ready to move on from Gracie. I love her but, she's just not the skater she used to be and she has yet so skate a clean LP this season.
