^IDK about Nebelhorn. She skating for an add'l Olympic spot on behalf of the U.S. as well as for herself. I say that she should just do whatever she is comfortable with. That said, she is really impressive w. the 3A. Her 145 score is really good this early in the season. I have to believe she is the U.S. frontrunner

Just to put this perspective, her debut score is only 6 points lower than Bradie’s highest score ever internationally. That’s how far ahead she is.

Watching her today was such a gift. She has such amazing glide down the ice. Great posture and spins. And of course that joyful smile of hers that makes you simply happy watching it.

Now the problem becomes the team competition. In order to secure a medal, she may have to do both segments. If she does that, she could be too tired or over exposed or pressured like Mirai and Yulia were. I hope that another US lady can rise to the occasion to take the SP or FS.

Now I can go back to freaking about dance teams in relation to the team event. It’s just the third team event and I’m completely obsessed!:dbana:

I can't speak to overexposure, but there is eight days between the women's team FS and the women's SP. Also, nothing really seems to faze Alysa. Right now, ice dance and men seem the most likely disciplines to change competitors between short and long programs.

Alysa's 3A was underrotated but landed; better than at Cranberry where she fell. Slowly but surely she's getting there. I kinda hope she puts the 3A in the short at Nebelhorn.
I don’t think that would be a good idea. I think it’s better for her to gain confidence in the short to get her legs under her and go for it in the long. She won’t have an issue but there is a spot on the line. She can start going for it in the short after.

Maybe, though, it wasn't a shortcoming of her former coach ... as much as that Jeremy is brilliant. In skating skills, but also he's apparently able to teach how to do it. Also ... that emphasis may have come at the right time for Alysa. Especially with her growth spurt, challenges getting on-ice training for a while. But it really does show that while Alysa is joyful and sunny in her skating ... she means business. She has that drive and can focus.

Congratulations, Alysa, on your gorgeous❤️ FS today at Lombardia, and the well-deserved win!
Well said.

Top 8 International Scores
1. Alysa Liu, 219.24 (CS Lombardia Trophy)
2. Isabeau Levito, 202.35 (JGP France II)
3. Lindsay Thorngren, 181.45 (JGP France I)
4. Mariah Bell, 179.42 (Cranberry Cup)
5. Ava Marie Ziegler, 176.29 (JGP Kosice)
6. Clare Seo, 174.80 (JGP France I)
7. Audrey Shin, 174.73 (Cranberry Cup)
8. Paige Rydberg, 170.51 (Cranberry Cup)

All of the women above, except for Ava and Clare, are competing at the senior level domestically. When was the last time we had such a strong crop of junior women?

I hope so too. Karen can put a solid SP for the team if she skates clean (and if she ends up going to the Olympics). That way Alysa has a warm up on her LP before the singles competition. Idk if Bradie might be able to pull a nice and clean SP on her first olympic team run. In my eyes, Bradie's LP are usually stronger than her SP's performance. Amber's SP are also either hit or miss. She is either clean and powerful or falls and goes slightly downhill throughout the program. Lindsay though, would be an interesting SP team alternative...

It makes the most sense for Alysa to skate both segments. Who else can match the scoring potential of 3a/quad? Splitting the SP/FS would weaken USA's chance for a medal.
