Convince me!

Well more or less. ;) Have you ever had the privlege or misfortune of seeing his 98 OD with Navka?

Well, I preferred their FD that year.

I don't understand this "more or less" kind of dismissal of the status of "a skater" for anyone who isn't the very best in the world.

If your neighbor found out you were interested in skating and said "Cool! I used to be/my daughter is a skater" (who never quite made it even to juvenile level), would you say "Well, more or less (mostly less)"? And Morozov was certainly a better skater than that hypothetical neighbor.

We SO need to smuggle a VCR into the hotel room when we go to nationals  I would love to watch and have you snark the whole way through

Thanks to the folk(s) who took on my challenge of Irina. No one has actually done Mao from what I can see (just Mai), but I'd also like to submit Yuna Kim.

Here's what I came up with as an update of names no one has come to defend:

Fumie Suguri, Mao Asada, Sarah Hughes, Kimmie Meissner, Mira Leung, Emanuel Sandhu, Yuna Kim, Domnina & Shabalin, Brian Joubert, Maria Butryskaya, Ben Ferreira and Grushina & Goncharov.

Any takers ??? ... Good luck

Fumie may love skating more than anyone. She doesn't skate for the sake of her pride. She skates out of love, which keeps her stay on ice.

Her flip jump is extremely light and has good height and flow.

She is also known for her presentation skills. She always incorporates something original and challenges herself with something unique but difficult. This season, her music has very difficult rythms to skate to.

She has great contact with the audience and indeed appreciates her fans very much.

^ Can't say much about Sarah but I'll try Emily.

I can't put out an overly convincing statement but I do think she attacks her programs with an intensity that most other skaters fail to reach, IMO. You can tell she really loves being out there and competing/entertaining the audience, and it can be infectious. If a skater is happy being out there, it's easier to enjoy watching her. JMO.

Brain Joubert never had an easy ascension to the top of the figure skating world... early promise not lived up to - a wacky coaching situation - competing in a country where he didn't have competition up to his level - a dad who wanted a soccer player - a "manly" skater whose atheletic ability hindered his artistic development ... and he still kept at it... never gave up... and worked hard. That's something special... And did I mention: he's hot to death??? That he walks around backstage without a shirt on???

He's also the one male skater my husband can watch without having a million comments becuase he makes skating look like an xgame sport... He makes men's skating cool for all and he also provides the eye candy that I like in my male athletes... and that's a good thing... And he's hot to death...

Good job:rock: You are such a writer! I must say it sounds pretty convincing although I've never been a fan of him:)

Har Har.... you and Bennett are funny... Don't be mean to me... I'm simply answering the question... defend Joubert ~ ok. He's the sexiest man on skates and he has guts... what more needs to be said... so stop with your teasing...

Did I mention that he's hot to death??? Yowzah....

pssttt quick, KW, before *I* chime in the with boys about the typo, go and edit your post and fix the error ;)

anyway...

Sarah Hughes survived Robin Wagner... I think that's enough lol Robin just seems so smothering

not only that she stuck it out, hit her major goal, and then continued on and is achieving her next goal = that degree from an ivy league school... even though it seemed the skating world - most especially her former coach - went after her with torch and pitchfork that she dare 'make a mistake' and leave skating (Wagner was completely out of line in that article)

She had a joy and a love for skating... but she also had a level head and was fortunate enough to have a family that didn't make it the end all be all and you will do this and succeed and that's all there is to it... she was a breath of fresh air in that respect.

Mao Asada is a very talented young lady. Further, she is known for her work ethics. She strives to achieve the very best out of herself. This season, she has transformed into such an elegant, sophisticated young lady on ice. As one of the TV commentators said, watching her skate is a "rich experience." Off ice, she seems to have a very happy personality. Her comments are quite innocent and simple, which is always refreshing to hear.

Johnny weir is a very artistic person. He has unique presence on ice. His choices of music, choreos, and costumes have always been inspiring to watch. This season, he designed two of his costumes that are very gorgeous.
He is also a very smart, intelligent person. The ways he uses metaphors are quite interesting to hear.
