Do Lindsay or Isabeau have a realistic shot at the JGPF podium? I haven't been following the Russian juniors that closely and don't really know where the US juniors stand in comparison, although I'm sure Zhilina being out helps their chances.
Currently, here is how the finalists for the Junior Grand Prix Final stack up against one another:

1. Sofia A. - 233.08 (3A3T, 3A, 4S, 4T3T, 4T1Eu3S)
2. Veronika Z. - 216.92 (4S, 4T3T, 4T2T)
3. Adeliia P. - 210.57 (4T)
4. Isabeau L. - 202.35 (4T)
5. Lindsay T. - 193.58 (3A)

If Isabeau can stabilize a 4T or even add a 3Lz3Lo—jumps she has been practicing—then she has an opportunity to seize a bronze. As for Lindsay, she would need to improve her PCS and stabilize the 3A to be a podium threat. However, this group of young women is probably the most competitive and if any of them underperform, there is another talent waiting to take advantage.

I agree. I'm not sure Isabeau will podium but, the fact that she is there and in the conversation is a big deal to me. I rarely follow Juniors but, this season has been very exciting for our Juniors. It's nice to see these young ladies getting some attention, which could lead to sponsorships to help with their training.

Speaking of sponsorships, I learned just recently that Lindsay Thorngren is one of the skaters who have received support from the Mabel Fairbanks Skatingly Yours Fund. Sounds like this has been money well spent!

It's just a simple difference in use of language. "Confirm" to me doesn't mean there was no competition - rather they needed to actually go and compete and get that spot in the first place. My use of the English language will inherently be different from a Canadian's.
I know. And different from a Dutchie's English too! :)

I’m surprised nobody has posted this yet. But, Starr Andrew’s skated her very best short program just now to place 1st by more than 10 points. She scored 70.10. Perhaps, justifying her Grand Prix selection and maybe a dark horse for an Olympic spot should others falter.

That's awesome! I saw on her Insta but I couldn't tell which comp it was. Any links?

Its the Championship series, not all that impressive that she's in first, no one else attempted a triple-triple and all she did was a front-loaded 3T-3T

But, it is progress for her. I think most of us just want to see skaters make improvements from their previous skates. This was far better than her performance at Autumn Classic. Hopefully, she will also show improvement in the LP. No one thinks Starr is currently competitive internationally, that's not always the point.

Does Starr have a shot at the podium for nationals with just a 3T-3T assuming she's squeaky clean and Amber and Alysa don't land a 3A?

I think she could score well enough in the SP, although the women doing 3Lz+3T and 3F would have higher BV even without a 3A. The issue will be the LP where a 3T+3T really does limit the other 3-3 combinations a skater can perform.

She was lovely. I’m sure she’s there to punch her ticket to Nationals, which shouldn’t be an issue.
