Ladies
1&2 Yuna Kim or Mao Asada (Yuna could afford one mistake against Mao)
3&4 Yukari Nakano or Caroline Zhang (Caroline will be stuck with the lowest pcs anyway though, but she is able to pull of the third highest TES)
5&6 Kimmie Meissner or Carolina Kostner (these two ladies have barely landed triples this season)

Men
1&2 Daisuke Takahashi or Johnny Weir (Takahashi going for two quads sound too ambitious)
3&4 Evan Lysacek or Stephen Lambiel (Evan will be consistently good, but not great enough)
5. Patrick Chan
6. Van Der Perren (even though he may be the hottest of the field:p)

Pairs
1. Savchenko/Szolkowy (no wardrobe malfunction this time)
2. Zhang/Zhang (I will be frustrated to see them triumph everything)
3. Dube/Davidson
4. Pang/Tong
5. Kawaguchi/Smirnov (Call me crazy, but I can watch them for the pure joy of watching Smirnov's costume:biggrin:)
6. McLaughlin/Brubaker

Ice Dance
1. Domnina/Shabalin
2. Belbin/Agosto
3. Virtue/Moir
4. Delobel/Schoenfelder

Dance:

1.) D/S: Russian bias nothing more, judges are just used to having a Russian Ice dance team winning everything
2.) V/M: Technical Scores are very high,
3.) B/A: Judges favourite next to D/S
4.) D/S: They always seem to be stuck at 4th, Tech score lower than the others

Pairs:

1.) S/Z: Depending on the night they might overtake the Chinese
2.) Z/Z: Its a toss up between them and the Germans
3.) P/T: Toss up between the them and D/D
4.) D/D: could be 3 or 4th

Mens:

1.) Weir: Seems to be doing very well this season
2.) Lambiel: Will not be perfect but high PCS will guarantee him a medal
3.) Takahashi: He's pretty consistant
4.) Chan: Rising Star

Ladies:

1.) Asada: Really depends who skates cleanly between her and Kim, but if they both skate cleanly Mao will take the title
2.) Kim: Mao and Yu-na are human they both make mistakes I think its a toss up between the 2 but if one of them makes a single mistake people will blow it out of proportion like thier career is over!
3.) Kostner: If she skates compitently skating at home will bump her scores up no doubt
4.) Nakano: Could be a spoiler...has been consistent

Who knows...maybe Carolina will skate two clean programs in front of her home crowd with incredble joie de vivre and break 200

Mao can't skate cleanly: she flutzes. That's one deduction in the SP and two in the FS. Kim neither flutzes nor lips. I like both of them, but this year with the ur and edge calls, Kim definitely has an advantage.

Kostner becomes a bundle of screaming nerves when she skates in her home country. She skated horribly at Euros 2005 in Torino and at the Torino Olympics. Skating at home is usually a disaster for her.

It's difficult for me to read posters' choices without a short reason why. Without that, I assume it is just hopeful thinking.

Kimmie will be on the podium because she's due to make a statement.

Joe

mine are based mainly on the fact that I am horrible at predicting so I just threw the names up as they came lol

seriously though I think Kimmie and Evan are both capable and ready to take the podium... I'm gonna give Johnny the Benefit of the doubt and he'll win the whole thing...

but like I said, normally my predictions are the exact opposite of what happens lol I seriously think I have the power to jinx!

If everyone skated their best these would be the results:

6. Dube/Davison

6. Pechalat/Bouzat

Ladies:

1. Kim

5. Kostner
6. Zhang

Those are my official predictions, they are how everyone will finish if everyone skates cleanly.

When have entire competitions of skaters all skated their best? In this GP season, it's been one splatfest after another.

It's more logical to make predictions based on how skaters have been performing most recently, not based on theoretical perfect performances from all the competitors. For example, Kostner has never to my knowledge put together two clean performances in the same event. Neither has Lambiel. They both are strong skaters, but not clean skaters.

Kostner did at the 2005 Worlds when she beat the great Michelle Kwan (who had mistakes) out of a medal.

Kostner did at the 2005 Worlds when she beat the great Michelle Kwan (who had mistakes) out of a medal.

Kostner's SP was clean, but not her FS. She doubled the loop, got a big -2.14 on her 2A+3S sequence, and stepped out of her final 2A.

Kwan beat Kostner in both SP and FS; she lost out on the bronze by about a third of a point because her QR skate was so bad that she couldn't quite make up the difference in the SP and FS.

Even though the most recent NHK LP was not clean, either, she didn't give up. I admire that.
