GP final predictions

Kostner's SP was clean, but not her FS. She doubled the loop, got a big -2.14 on her 2A+3S sequence, and stepped out of her final 2A.

Kwan beat Kostner in both SP and FS; she lost out on the bronze by about a third of a point because her QR skate was so bad that she couldn't quite make up the difference in the SP and FS.
Her hip was so bad, she should have taken care of it several years before.

Only dance.
1..Domnina/Shabalin
2 .Virtue/Moir
3.Belbin/Agosto
4.Delobel/Shoenfelder
5.Kokhlova/Novitski
6.Pechalet/Bourzat

Would love Del/Shoe to win but as there's no CD it will not help them at all unless their levels have improved and they skate well .IMO D/S B/A V/M all have better ODS.I think probably Fifth and sixth places will be K/N and P/B.

I feel the same way....but they might be able to beat B/A because I think D/S's FD is better. D/S's OD's actually not that much inferior. I think it was only like 0.3 points less than V/M's.

It's difficult for me to read posters' choices without a short reason why. Without that, I assume it is just hopeful thinking.

I understand what you mean. You'll have to pardon my laziness.

My picks are mostly based on recent results tempered slightly with a skater's potential and their long-term history (at least, what I seem to know of it). Ice dancing, on the other hand, is still a mystery to me. Of course, that will not stop me from making my foolish predictions because making predictions in figure skating is a fool's game anyway.

It is amazing, how an overrated competition (COR) could "Implant" to everybody's mind Domnina/Shabalin is the best (most favourite) ice-dance couple.

The method worked again very well, like 4 years ago in 2004 (Navka/Kostomarov v.s Denkova/Staviyski) :(((((
IT IS SAD.

I think the concern is that the COR scores show that this team has already been annointed by the judges.

I don't know. I think it's just that the top 4 teams are so very close that calling it now is really a guesswork.

Yes indeed the Russians are very clever. COR was the perfect place to reassert the dominance of Navka/Kostomarov on the ice dance world after their dissapointing loss to then chief rivals Denkova/Stayviski at NHK. It was also a place to lowball Denkova/Stayviski in the scores and begin their descent from the top level as they were the team the Russians feared most, and displacing them as their chief rivals by a team who wasnt thought to even be eligible for the Olympics (Belbin/Agosto) was actually a perfect situation for the Russians.

Now COR is a perfect place to get talk begun of Domnina/Shabalin
being the new leaders in ice dancing with such high marks. Again the new plan is put in place for establishing dominance of the next generation of Russian dance.

It's Kevin, actually

I see that no less than three posters have included in their lists the name "Peter Van Der Perren".

You'd think that serious skating fans could at least get the GP finalists' names right.
