2021 Skate America: Free Dance

I will say, in the past Madi Hubbell has had a tendency to choose costumes that were not very flattering, but both of this year's are very very pretty! Very nice skate, don't love the music though.

That seemed technically strong, but rather boring for my taste. This kind of music is what I really don't like about US pairs (who are otherwise so talented).

Despite their high rankings, I'm not sure we are going to see an American on the Olympic podium. Madison and Evan's FD is too esoteric without the superb technical skills and Madison and Zach's is that same dreamy, steamy stuff. I'm ok with that, just surprised with their performance selections for this Olympic year.

H/B is definitely more traditional this season. Not a fan of the music, but it is a vast improvement over the A star is born dance.

I'm not a lip reader, generally speaker, but she said "I love you" to him before they left the ice. Maybe they have secret children in a basement too?

Honestly, apart from The Lift (which may or may not get called on a given day) this is kind of a boring program imo, and it's a shame.

Well, it looks to me like he fully extends them, and then I think what matters is whether or not he holds it there. To me, he does, long enough that it could/maybe should get called. But - not an ice dancing judge, just another amateur piecing this together.

This program has the same kind of blandness that Sochi Tessa & Scott had in the free dance. They deserve better.

Is that pairs lift allowed? I prefer the other Madison's skate, but I don't think the judges agree!

Tanith said that it's legal as long as his elbows stay bent, and that it's not sustained. It sounds like to me that they'll run into trouble with it, if Zach has to straighten and lock his elbows.

Okay, that lift definitely looks illegal to me.

Tanith says it is legal with a slight bend in the arms, not locked down. For what it is worth.
