European Skating 2021-22 Season

Anybody a bit worried about Olga Mikutina from Austria? It looks like she doesn't participate in any competition till NHK... from her instagram I gather she is happy and healthy so I don't think it's injury (thank god), but I hope she is preparing well for her grand prix debut because having a grand prix as a first event of the year and as a newcomer sounds a bit daring
Not worried as such, she looks to be very much still interested in skating judging by her instagram. But quite confused as to why she's not going to the Austrian challenger event. I was looking forward to seeing her soon!

Austrian challenger is on the same time with NHK trophy in Japan and Olga will compete there.
But yes I agree that this is odd that she is not doing any competition before GP. Last season she was very weak at the beginning of the season.

Ah thank you! That makes a lot more sense now.

Regarding the interview on FS Gossips with loena hendrickx:
Wow, it sure was interesting. The interviewer asked her several questions about her "advanced" age and about her own opinions on the Russian skaters. Maybe I'm looking too much into it.
***Did u know that until age 13, loena was only training one day a week?!?

Wasn't it once a day?

Not surprising she is a "late bloomer" given her training conditions. She was already doing well in 3-4 years ago but got hammered by injuries. If she had been training in a country like US she could have bloomed even sooner than 18yo.

About her opinion on age limit, she's already older than 18yo, so she's safe. If she was 15yo i wonder if she would say the same.

Yes you're right. It was once a day. My mistake!

How does one train twice or 3x a day? What about school or work?
I know that most of russians dont go to school...i talked 3 years ago with Sofia Akatyeva mom and she said so. They are taking few basic lessons in months but thats its.

I think this is probably why skaters from outside Russia tend to do better at an older age because there's a lot of countries where you're not allowed to miss school.
