It was discussed (I believe in the men’s thread) that Golden Spin is often entered and if one happens to make GPF well just drop out of it at that time.

Exactly. I was just having this conversation with a friend of mine. She and her team know that if she has any hope of medaling, or for that matter, making the final flight at the Olympics, she needs to be competitive with the Russian and Japanese Ladies technically.

I was looking forward to seeing her on the jgp, then nothing. I noticed she also has removed her instagram account a while ago. Just hope all is okay with her, such a lovely young lady!

I was also looking forward to seeing Haley Scott from Florida this year in juniors/US Champs-but nothing. Not sure she is even skating any more, and I thought she had a huge amount of talent. She was also in a junior pair which I haven't seen either this year.

I don’t get how anyone can realistically see Lindsay on the team. She’s 16 (practically) and didn’t have the confidence or ambition to turn senior this year. They aren’t going to send someone who’s only been completely on the JGP to the Olympics.

It could happen. Polina Edmunds senior international debut was at the Olympics.

How so? If Polina didn't go it would have been Mirai. Polina at Sochi finished 9th, Mirai at Pyeongchang finished 10th.
Well they couldn't know how weak the other ladies are presenting them self. For now she is in front of all of them besides alysa. Bradie and Mariah didn't show though, but have big injury question marks
They have sent someone who competed internationally as a junior. And with the exception of Alysa (and she is a very narrow lead over Lindsay), none of the ladies that have competed at this point have shown up as well as Lindsay has.
And what's the risk of sending someone without senior international experience, that she won't get reputation PCS boost - i thought we all hated that. She has to get experience at some point and if she continues to out perform the current senior ladies her lack of experience shouldn't be held against her.
No US lady was getting an individual medal against Zagitova, et. al. Maybe Mirai was focused on helping the US to a team bronze, with an 8 triple FS, ahead of Daleman, Kostner and Kaori.

Not only that, but PCS is only half the score. As long as she gets the job done technically, she's doing more than all the other US women aside from Alysa.
Did fourth - nineth not exist? I have no problems with Mirai's placement or if she focused on the team competition, that was her decision, the poster i replied to said it was a mistake to send Polina to Sochi, I was pointing out she technically placed better than Mirai did at the Olympics she was sent to in 2018, Mirai is who would have been sent if not Polina.
The truth of the matter is Lindsay is skating better than any other US lady we have seen at the moment barring Alysa. Even in Juniors she has managed an average higher than Amber or Karen. And while her seasons best isn’t better than Amber or Karen’s, I believe she can get 200+ provided she skates consistent and goes to a senior competition (choreographic sequence extra points plus an increase in PCS) So far, Lindsay is looking like the #2 American skater for the Olympics. That being said, things may (and probably will change.) Karen may score 200+ for the rest of her events, as maybe will Mariah. Bradie may come back better than ever. However, at the moment, Lindsay is looking better than everyone else. Of course I think unless someone like Mariah or Bradie really stun us or Alysa all of a sudden has a quads again and rotated triple axels I think it should just be top 3 senior eligible women at nationals go. None of the ladies really have proven to me that any of them deserve a guaranteed Olympic spot…not even Alysa. (Granted she probably will be top 3 senior eligible women but who knows? Ice is slippery.)
But I really don’t think there is any feasible argument to be made against Lindsay not going provided she gets the senior minimums and has a top 3 finish at Nationals. She is right in the conversation and atm is looking better than most other contenders. But I will not lie I’d be very sad if Mariah couldn’t manage to get to the Olympics. I’ve always had a soft spot for her.

It just depends on how one views Olympic berths I guess. If one isn’t going to be competitive for medals I’d prefer that spot to go to someone who has been representing the US well for a long time than some one who is just coming out of juniors (and as I’ve pointed out in the past some skaters are never able to make that transition).
It’s so important to the athletes, and there are a plethora of competitions one can send young skaters to to get experience - senior Bs, Challengers, 4CCs.
To me it’s just another comp, to the athletes definitely not.
