She could have been sent to Golden Spin. It’s unfortunate USFS chose to count her out.
Maybe I was dreaming but isn’t there something called the Santa Claus Cup? Or maybe was in the past?

There was/is something called Santa Claus Cup in Budapest, I think it use to be in the beginning of December.

There is something called Bratislava Grand Prix in Slovakia which is planned at 17th-19th December. As there is still a month away, maybe it´s possible to send Gracie if they accept late entries? I think it will counts as minimums as long as there is enough skaters from different countries, because the Norwegians are going and they still need minimums for EC so I´m pretty sure they have chosen competitions to attend carefully. I had problem trying to find information about the competition, but so was the case with Open D´ Andorra which is this week and still will be held, entries list was just published yesterday.

I think Gracie should get a chance to collect minimums. If she isn´t really in the loop for OG (which I honestly are starting to believe is possible because of the current situation now with the US ladies), she at least has a good chance going to the Four Continents Championship, as they probably will be the ones who don´t go to the OG.

Edit: I just checked the ISU calender and Bratislava Grand Prix is apparently cancelled :/ But Santa Claus Cup is still planned and something called Open Belarus Cup at the same time as Bratislava Grand Prix.

For those of you who know about foot injuries/foot pain from exp, I'm curious if it's something you can push through if your life depended on it for one or two competitions. So sad for Bradie. Obviously wouldn't want to risk it if it could cause permanent injury but. She's so close to another Olympics!

It depends on what the injury is and how severe, it could also depend on which foot it is - Shcherbakova's toe injury was to her picking foot had it been her non-picking foot then she might not have missed as much training. Trusova won skate America with a foot injury and Medvedeva had a broken bone in her foot for some part of the last Olympic season.

I concur. And also 25 really isn't that old. Elizaveta T is 24. Carolina competed until she was at least 30. Gracie has sponsorships so $$ for training is probably not an issue. I don't think we should write her off for being ancient just yet.

I would also add that Adam Rippon and Mirai Nagasu did pretty well for themselves after everyone wrote them off.

As long as Gracie is getting joy from competing then she should compete.
I am skeptical Tuk will continue after Beijing. Kostner skated until 30, but with limited Italian competition, could go to worlds every year and place well with tons of reputation PCS, regardless of technical scores. Gracie doesn't have that luxury, with Boston 2016 her last worlds. Mirai retired a few months before turning 25. She and Adam retired after a relatively successful Olympics (more from team competition than individual) and used that success for post Olympic opportunities. But I agree, if Gracie is happy continuing, I am happy.

I am no longer a professional dancer (although I do teach) and I can tell you from personal and current experience (I have a broken bone in my foot as we speak) that it really does depend on where the injury is and what the foot is required to do. I can walk right now, mostly comfortably, and the fracture in my foot isn't yet healed. Once it is healed, it will be a matter of pain tolerance and regaining strength.

I agree and understand all of that. I was just reacting to the general "Gracie is 25 OMG she's too OLD to skate any more" sentiment that I've seen floating around.

It was lovely to see Gracie smile with real joy and satisfaction during her skates. She has said that she wants to change the ending of her story. It may be less about winning for her and more an emotional journey so she can enjoy herself and her skating for as long as she is willing to put in the work no matter what the finish. I think she just wants to take her shot and enjoy her skating - come what may.

Mariah Bell is also 25.

BTW, Mirai retired before she was 25 because she had to have surgery to repair her damaged hip. Few skaters have been able to continue competitive skating after that. Alissa Czisny tried and in one of her first club competitions, her hip failed and she had to have more surgery.

No. LOL. You are not in pain when the skates are off, (As long as you don't try to wear pretty high heeled shoes) but the minute you are back on the ice, your feet in skating boots, and pushing off or jumping, the pain is horrible. Even walking in your skates to get on the ice gives you a fun bout of shooting pain. So skate through it? Depends where the fracture is, but probably not. And the older and heavier you are, the less chance of it resolving to the point you can do multiple triples etc.

Regarding Bradie she is either being extremely cautious (perhaps too much if she ends up debuting at Nationals), suffered a setback like reinjuring the foot or her coach that posted the triple-triple clip in i think early October pulled an old clip pre-injury and posted it. Otherwise I don't see a reason why she isn't at least doing a competition even at the domestic level with some triples and doubles just to shake off the rust for Nationals

I just finished watching Warsaw and Lindsay T was robbed. The technical panel was super strict with her jumps, but, put away their glasses for the rest of her competition. I can’t believe she is in 8th place with the skate she put out. I’m hoping she comes back with vengeance for the free skate.
When I saw her score that low, I was wondering, "Just how?" Same thing happened to Ilia in Austria. Sometimes the panel could be too lax or too strict.

What are the remaining Challenger events? Just wondering.
