It means the opposite. Aliona's already fulfilled the requirements for 2 spots, so if she keeps skating after this season, she'll definitely be on the grand prix next year,
Wait isn't she only guaranteed one spot if she isn't sent to world's? She only needs top 7 to guarantee 2 assignments but there's a chance she won't be on the team.

ISU can decide to change the rules for GP 2022-2023 but if rules don't change she's guaranteed 2 spots unconditionally as a "seeded skater". The only different thing if she doesn't go to Worlds is that her spots will be determined by draw. If she participates to Worlds and places in the top 6, her GP assignments will be determined otherwise. The important thing is that she gets 2 spots, and she will get them.

Lovely bit of Artwork, from a great Artist, for a great Alena :

i will say that there will be immense pressure at nationals and those who have nerves of steel will be the ones to shine.

Liza doesn't have a good track record at nationals and has faltered her last 2 attempts to make the olympic team. if she places as low as she did last year (7th i think) she's out.

Not much is known on Sasha's condition and she can either blow everyone out of the water or go up in flames.

Maiia hasn't been the most consistent this season and the pressure will be on. last season she seemed to falter the most in competition. how will she handle it?

i think we can count on Anna and likely Kamila to deliver.

i just hope Aliona focuses on what is in her control and does that to the best of her ability.
Liza finished 6th and even behind Nugumanova last year at nationals and still went to worlds! Its the powers that they want Liza T at the Olympics and only her bombing nationals or Europeans is the only chance Sasha or Aliona have. Maya is not a serious contender and Dasha is hurt.

Лиза в прошлом году финишировала 6-й и даже уступила Нугумановой на национальных чемпионатах и все же отправилась на чемпионат мира!
Of those who could go to the World Cup, Liza was then not sixth, but fourth. She only slightly lagged behind Nugumanova. In addition, Lisa was still recovering from covid. At the Russian Cup in February, she became the fourth, but neither Valieva, nor Khromykh, nor Usacheva could go to the World Cup. So nothing special happened here

Liza was 6th. You can't make the juniors just disappear. That would be like having 3A year they dominated Senior nationals in December of 2018. They were the story that nationals. And Aliona was a big part of it.

I don't think Alex Fedorov meant to make disappear the 3A. But they were not yet eligible to Worlds and that was the point. Among eligible Ladies she was fourth, she didn't jump over other Senior to go to Worlds, except Elizaveta Nugumanova.
This season, even if Sofia Akatyeva is allowed to participate, and even if her and Adelia Petrossian place high, they are not eligible for Worlds and other Senior international championships, so Senior skaters placing behind them won't lose chances to go.

I know Alex meant senior placing and that is fine. I know who is eligible and who is not but it's still a competition and the placements matter.

I enjoy seeing the not eligible for senior Russian girls come in but why are they hiding Sofia this year? Anna won senior Nationals for the first time at 14 which is how old Sofiia is but she can't compete. Hmmm.

I wish them all well and good health especially aliona.

Because you need to be 14 by July 1st of that year.

Anna turned 14 in March, so she was eligible to compete. Sofia, on the other hand, turned 14 later in July, so she is not eligible.

When did they change the rule? First senior rusnats for Nastya G she was just turned 14 five years ago. It seems like the Russian Federation is playing with their rules.

Aliona was born in August and I'm pretty sure her first senior Russian Nationals she was 14. I think she finished third. She was amazing.

I think they are trying to protect the others from SA so the Russian Federation plays with the rules and does what they want. but that's not how they roll at TT and Sambo. They put them all them out there and they let them compete against each other and they make each other better.

I'm also a bit worried with this new rule because Norway have asked to raise the minimum age to compete in the Senior category. They believe it is a means of protecting children against abuse and overtraining and I believe it cannot, while it may block the most promising Junior skaters to get those endorsements which in my opinion may give them a bit of independence and better circumstances in general.
Russia is opposed to this raise of age limit but if they themselves raise the minimum age to compete among Seniors, it can be used as an argument against their refusal of the Norwegian proposal.

I really don’t know. I was just explaining why Anna could compete and Sofia can’t. But, I’m not in charge of the FFKR nor do I know what exactly goes on there, so I can’t answer your question.
