Ted is so much better than Tara and Johnny… can’t help but think Johnny going and spending a week with TT for the Olympics wasn’t also some sort of bid to try and get commentating gigs the way Ted has, but let’s be real— before he was a Russian favorite he was a very well liked JGP commentator, and Johnny and Tara have always been annoying.

Though I hope he doesn’t grovel too much. I feel like he has a tendency to really be partial towards his favorites and that comes off poorly when commentating for seniors.
Johnny has always has a very odd obsession
with anything Russian, so I doubt he was trying to be the commentator. I do agree that he and Tara are extremely annoying though.
I also find Ted to be a bit annoying, but I’m probably the only one that doesn’t think he’s amazing

Why is Johnny liking anything Russian odd!!To see it that way as an obsession is very narrow minded!!

No. I hate the timing of Russian Nationals. Family gets in the way of my favourite events that I like to watch live. I’m going to have to avoid the forums so I can enjoy watching, as if I’m watching live

That’s why I was saying I hope he doesn’t grovel. He used to do it with Aliona and I was like she’s my fave too bud, but please stop sounding so obsessive 😭😂

Tara literally says the same thing about every single skater though

“She puts her entire heart and soul into this program, and feels the music from her feet all the way out to her fingertips”

Also hate that they interrupt music to tell us it’s a triple-triple like we don’t have eyes? At least give us the jump type, if you’re going to pretend the technical elements aren’t displayed in the upper left hand.

I would think that Johnny being obsessive would mean he’d want the gig more, though.

TBH, I am a fan of the Johnny/Terry duo. (Like at Skate America.)

Plus, Johnny is one of the only commentators in the world who can pronounce very single Russian name flawlessly.

Exactly. Social distancing is a bit of help but I'm not sure I will be able to avoid family gathering this year..

It's for the casuals though! 🙈 I get that it's annoying for us fans because we want to enjoy the performance and we already know what it is but it's honestly so helpful for casual viewers to be told what's happening as it's happening.

Did you follow figure skating when he was a competitive skater? Just curious, because if you did then you’d know….
Also, there was this interview about the Russia gay ban that he did in a Russian military uniform.🙄

Well, Johnny's always been a little eccentric to say the least.
When he skated to "The Swan", he wore a glove that looked like a swan's head. And he named his glove "Camille".

Judges are giving theirs opinion on the things defined by the recommendations, not by their own views. By having nine judges in the panel, and not using all the judge's mark in the final scores with devaluating the opposites, is making it quite an objective in the end. And judges are the one who give a final decision in every sport, we like it or not. Do you remember that in an 'objective sport' as you are calling them a player scored a goal with his hand and win a title for his nation?
Do not doubt the "hand of God"

Top 24 are guaranteed a spot at next year's senior GPs, except for (J).
I only see Gubanova and Chen, and maybe Kihira if she gets healthy, as potentials to get back into that Top 24.
There are 12 eligible Russians now in the Top 24. There are only room for 9 at the GPs.

Only the Championships left. Next up Europeans.
not just Kihira but if Tennell gets healthy and goes to worlds she will probably be in the top 24. Perhaps Yelim Kim as well.

For Sinitsyna Samodelkina and Zinina I guess they will be keeping their eyes on the scores closely. I hope JGPF goes forward so Zinina can boost her score and I hope Samodelkina is named to junior worlds team

This year Tara really started talking 10 seconds into Mishina/Galliamov’s program to say “they will try to keep this program as clean as possible” such in-depth analysis... 🙄
