Now on the other hand the last time Liza gave a good performance at nationals was like 6 years ago. So it should not be hard for Trusova to beat her. But it also was not supposed to be hard for Trusova to beat Anna which she hasn’t done since 2019 Junior worlds

Agree, Tuktamysheva needs to outscore Trusova at Nationals, if she doesn't there is very little justification in the Fed going with her besides the awful suggestion that they want to show they don't need teenagers to win or want all of their skaters to come from 1 coaching team. And yes, Tuktamysheva has struggled to deliver at Nationals so this is certainly in Trusova's favor

Regardless of whether Trusova goes for 2 quads and falls on one (beatable) or 5 quads and falls on 3 (beatable). Trusova unfortunately is just not consistent with the quads. And she clearly has a problem with nerves, she is always practicing well and then competing below that, the opposite of Anna and Aliona.

Yes, Trusova as a senior has shown a consistent issue with competition nerves, I think it largely stems from her biting off more than she can chew on her jumps (quads and triple axel), that's why I mentioned in 1 of my earlier posts that her being on the team might be stipulated on her not going full out on the 5 quads at Olympics (save that bomb for Worlds). For the most part when she has been more reasonable with her quads sticking to 2-3 she has been mostly clean with the exception of Europeans 2020, which was a bad competition for all 3 Russians.

If they select the team based on body of work though (as they did in 2018 with Medvedeva), Liza would get the spot. she beat trusova at worlds and Maiia on the grand prix

Well to be fair, they only selected on body of work because Zhenya was injured and had clearly recovered well enough to compete and was the double reigning world and national champ. Liza isn't those things. And she's not injured. RusFed has made it pretty clear RusNats is a skate off. Liza won't get there by being consistent alone if she loses to Sasha. She might barely get there even if she does beat Sasha.

Anyways, Trusova scored essentially exactly the same as Liza did in Skate Canada even though Skate Canada had pretty significant scoring irregularities. And, of course, Sasha has landed plenty of two quad and three quad programs cleanly before. As Amei said, I think it stems from biting off more than she can chew under pressure-- if she sticks to a layout that guarantees a podium spot but doesn't overstress her, with a full recovery, she'll easily top Liza just on tech content alone now that her components can score higher than previously, even if TT does decide to hold her back from her five quad layout. Besides, it's not like the Fed is going to let anyone top Kamila anyways, even if she falls a million times, or Sasha lands all five quads and the 3A, so there's really no sense in trying to shoot for the moon on such political ice. She just needs to guarantee a Euros/Olympics spot.

I suppose it was Sergei Rozanov's motorcycle too, and that they were out joyriding with Alina and Daniil on a double date before the girls reported in to Commander Eteri for their nightly lashings since they ate four shrimps each instead of between them.

It's pretty easy for TUKT to outscore TRU at RusNats. Regardless of how many quads landed. A score is only a score, and Trusova may easily receive -4 for every jump and 5.0th for components. Per judges decision. "So we see this way. Period."

But over jumping Trusova, is a completely different task. Two trixels are "slightly" inferior in BV to five quads. And the mob may not understand why supposedly clear Trusova (like from the OP) lost to "semi-ordinary" Tuktamisheva (no insult implied).

I'm still ensured that 5Q Trusova would prevail over two trixels Tuktamisheva (clear vs clear) at any ISU Board competition. Not so sure at Mother Russia.

Honestly, dunno about others, but Olympics without Trusova just won’t feel like Olympics to me. Obviously, if she is recovered enough from her injury. She makes women’s skating exciting. I love Valieva too, and fully expect her to be the champion, but Trusova has the unique ability to liven the competition and her programs are bold and bright vs the usual. Dunno if it’s human nature, but it’s my nature to love and ‘get’ flawed and fighting tooth and nail more than perfect.

Because I think, for the past four years many of us have been on the edge of their seats when she skates. Sometimes it has been a triumph, sometimes not, but she never fails to bring the excitement. She has always been my favorite and I will be gutted if she doesn't make the team, but with this sport it is so much about timing. Given Kamila's growth patterns, I'm not sure she will be #1, this time next year. Radianova had an interview last week or so, asking about who she thinks will make the Olympic team-and I think she was pretty much dead on with what she said-especially about Trusova-that Trusova must always been seen as a revolutionary in this sport, that she changed the game completely.

It would be hard to overtake Shcherbakova at this point without a meltdown from her - shes the reigning 3 time national champ, she's never lost as a senior to either Tuktamysheva or Trusova in head to head competition and can outscore them both in the non-jump elements and PCS - probably is, I'm just not saying for certain because I'm not going to check the score sheets right now. She's more reliable than Trusova and can outscore Tuktamysheva with fewer quads/triple axels.

It isn’t a translation error. She might have said that so that the journalist would leave her alone, he sounds very forceful and annoying. No wonder, she didn’t want to talk to him about it.

I think you're right that she didn't want to talk to the journalist, I read in a translation of a YouTube video that she posted that said she broke her wrist on a triple axel fall.

My prediction is that Anna will win Nationals. She always wins when everyone believe she'll be second. Kamila, whom I adore, is tough but this time is for real. she's human, young and while I presume they've been preparing her mentally for months, pressuring herself to be perfect in such vital competition may make her wobble. the 4T's are rock solid, i'm not 100% sure about the 3ax and perhaps the 4sal. Anna will surely comes out as the lioness she is and may throw a perfect 4lz and 4flip, with a perfect skate over all. At last Nats she was astonishing while being ill, imagine what she can be while healthy.
Tuk vs Tru, I predict close scores which will lead to testing both of them in January.
