I must say, Andrei does seem to have an introverted, melancholy air about him. It works very well for the SP this year but I'd like to see him less tense and project some more as he gets more experience. I think that's one of the reasons why some skaters have struggled to get good PCS despite good SS. Andrei's good showing at Euros this year should give some breathing room regarding GP spots for the next two years or so, so it's less "do or die" for a while.

I just watched some of his junior programs and the music choices are a bit too out there even for me :LOL: I'm glad this year's programs are more mainstream!

Yup, he sure was voted in the Russian Year book as the guy least likely to skate to Queen and Notre-Dame. I dunno if they run out of the Explorer’s series, and if so, what other broken middle-aged man they would go for next year. Honestly, should just go and do the ultimate one, Gumilev. He is so, so, Gumilev. I wonder if there a musical version of Gumilev’s Cross… I seem to vaguely recall that Malinin sang Cross like 30 years ago… it might create confusion with Ilia Malinin lol.

Call me an optimist, but maybe Kondratyuk's win is a good thing for Mozalev in the long run? I am wondering if the shafts are due to the RusFed's urge to have a leading man with senior quads, which Kondratyuk might become next year. As long as they can secure a leading man like that, perhaps, just perhaps, they would be happy to have Mozalev as the second/third, gradually becoming the musical/artistic one? I mean, they could have pushed him below Semenenko, and they didn't. Good sign? No? Am I grasping at straws here? Will it be clear by the next year National team/GP assignments?

On one of the Russian sites they have a poll about who should be going to the Olympics Andrei or Evgeny. Mozalev is winning 80% to 20% with more than 20,000 votes cast. The people know who should go to the Olympics even though it is close between the 2 of them.

Mozalev got flak though for throwing that poll on his IG stories. But, next year Semenenko will rank above Mozalev in world's standings, so Mozalev has yet another hard year ahead. What's new though.... :dbana::ghug:

Lol ballsy kid. I mean why not stand up for yourself against the political rusfed machine? And he did beat his main competitor at nationals and Europeans. That should bev significant.

Well, it’s back to pretty pictures of his exhibition now, plus a nice mix from sokolovskay’s team that remixes Kondratyuk and Mozalev from like kids’ competitions till the EC. So, the brief rebellious phase might be over and he is back to his fluffy dandelion self. 🤣🤣🤣

Mark is clearly the number one after winning rusnats and Europeans and hes doing 1 of the skates in the team event I would think. There are reports today that Misha will be dropped from the team event. I would think that would only happen if Mark did both skates in the team event.

the people want Andrei for the Olympic team.

I think what i want more is for Mozalev to not just get selected, but to succeed. Objectively, and for very understandable reasons, his 4S is still 50% success in competitions, he zayaked and he let his performance slip when he could least afford it. He also dropped from 1st to 4th, because he was trying so, so hard to save bronze. Because of all this, there is no doubt in my mind that he will remain alternative, so my hopes morphed. I wish that he outstays and overcomes, and shows even more growth at CRF, his next challenge. He needs to skate with the same power of emotion he showed in the gala, only in the competitions, while making the jumps. It’s a tall order!

I don’t think this is the thread for Kondratyuk vs Kolyada, but my pick would have been Kolyada

Will mark one both competition so he gets to do at least 1 skate in the team event.

I would be with you that Andrei will be the alternative. But he beat Evgeny pretty decisively at both competitions and that should be the difference. No?

But Andrei falling from 1st to 4th probably did open some eyes.

Yes, the whole team, including the alternatives received the Olympic uniforms. We’ll get the final word tomorrow, and at least this stressful period will be over. And if he doesn’t gets selected, Olympics would miss out on something beautiful.
