Wait, if I live in the US, can I really stream the Olympics for $5 through Peacock? Is there a Premium version that allows playback for different events?Peacock coverage without commentary is the best $5 a month I've ever spent. I sure hope they plan on continuing that for the Olympics![]()
Peacock will probably have practice cams.Has anyone seen any info about live streaming of practices?
I'm considering Peacock too. Events will air on Peacock live. $5 for feed with commercials, $10 for commercial free. Events will repeat, but on a their schedule, not on demand. I guess I'm waiting until events start happening to make the purchase. I want to be sure there are still skaters to watch!Wait, if I live in the US, can I really stream the Olympics for $5 through Peacock? We don't have cable or an antenna so I figured I would be stuck reading quickhits.
My sister has Peacock with her Xfinity subscription. I watched the USFSA regional events and the Grand Prix event in Russia while visiting her in November. The quality was usually good. I expect they will use the same camera video as the NBC broadcast.I'm considering Peacock too. Events will air on Peacock live. $5 for feed with commercials, $10 for commercial free. ) and a replay function that is available maybe an hour, two hours after the event? Even though I pay for the "with ads" version, so far no ads during live skating.
If you have an HDMI cable, you should be able to hook your laptop to the TV. We don't have a smart tv, so we do that all the time with streaming apps.We cut the cord and do not have cable or antenna either. I can't get Peacock on the smartTV though, so I watch skating on my laptop.
For all the past events replays have been available about an hour after it finishes. Have you heard that it will be different?I'm considering Peacock too. It was like a dream come true for me when I discovered Peacock would be making all Olympic events available via streaming for just the usual $4.99/month. I'll probably give it a test run with curling tomorrow just to make sure.We cut the cord and do not have cable or antenna either. Peacock for figure skating so far has been great: a commentary free feed (they also have one with commentary sometimes but I ignore it) and a replay function that is available maybe an hour, two hours after the event? Even though I pay for the "with ads" version, so far no ads during live skating.
This is all for "regular" comps though (Grand Prix, challengers, Nats and Nats qualifiers) I don't know if they will switch it up for the Olys.
Downside: finding the comp can be a challenge, the interface is not the greatest. I imagine the Olympics will be easier to find than replays of Skate Canada were![]()

For a month, you can afford the extra 5 bucks for ad free. Otherwise, they will show you Rusty Cath and Country Western Music! It is important to book mark everything in advance, but now they have an Oly icon and then a skatin' icon under that so maybe it will be easier. We cut the cord and do not have cable or antenna either. I can't get Peacock on the smartTV though, so I watch skating on my laptop.

Perhaps someone is confused. NBC rabbit ears is gonna replay events in the wee hours.....when events like the Olys are on in the wee hours of the morning, and they didnt do on demand, people with tar and feathers and pitchforks would take care of the peacock. For all the past events replays have been available about an hour after it finishes. Just a wee note that Eurosport will have three additional linear channels for the duration of the Olympics. So, 5 linear channels altogether. Same as they did for Pyeongchang 2018.
During the Tokyo 2021 Summer Olympics, there were 7 additional linear Eurosport channels, which each had a theme:
...
I can't remember if the 3 additional channels were themed for the 2018 Pyeongchang Olympics. And I have no idea if they will be this time around, because we can't access EPG listings yet. We'll only find out when they launch.
But, personally, I don't think themed channels would be possible when there are only 3 additional channels. Even if we were able to divide the sports into 3 broad themes (and I cannot imagine how that would be done, as the sports are more varied than that!), each theme would have too much content at some times and not enough content at other times. That's what happened with Tokyo last year.
Themes didn't work with 7 additional channels during the Summer Olympics, so I can't see how themes would work with only 3 additional channels during the Winter Olympics.
Hope this helps

Interesting. I thought the Indian broadcast rights were sold....usually that means an automatic block....An easy, free way to access the Olympic Youtube streams is to download the Opera browser, which is free and has a built in VPN. Set the VPN to "Asia" and it should set your location to India.

Just got a nifty laptop computer for travel....not big but even it has an HDMI cable output.
Totally OT Chris, but what laptop did you buy? Mine is too heavy to take when I travel.Lucky. I always get Singapore when I choose "Asia".
