Not So Early Predictions

And I don't see a problem with Paul doing both singles and dance and the JGP and/or GP circuit. I just wonder if skate canada will have an issue sending him to compete 4 times in a season. I believe that Dube did only one JGP event in singles the year that she competed both events internationally,a dnshe did a wonderful job.

Dube competed singles for 2 seasons on the JGP and she got 2 bronze medals over 4 JGP events. That was before she had the injury that forced them to miss what was to be her first senior nationals in both pairs and ladies. There is a good chance that Dube could make the national team in singles this year and who knows a Nebelhorn and Skate Canada birth in ladies afterwards.

Who knows, if it weren't for injuries she might have gone to Junior Worlds 2 years ago when Lacoste and Szmiett were sent.

Injuries have really taken Dube's focus off singles for the last couple of years. Hopefully she will be back to current form with her first ( so far ) injury-free season.

Thanks for the correction, Nadster. I was under the impression that she only competed on the JGP circuit once.

She is AMAZING & an exquisite skate IMO:bow::bow::bow::bow::bow::bow::bow::bow::bow:

I couldn't agree more. I fell in love with her and Bryce's skating the very first time I saw them, which was when I was watching the 06 nationals. She does seem to have a beautiful presence as a singles skater as well as a pair.

What I think will happen:

1)Buttle
2)Chan (possibly 1st if Jeffrey has a meltdown)
3)Mabee

1)Rochette (no doubt)
2)Leung
3)Hawker

1)Dube/Davison (easy as pie)
2)Duhamel/Buntin
3)Langlois/Hay(possibly 2nd)

1)Tessa & Scott (without even trying)
2-?)???

I would LOVE for Shawn Sawyer:love: to be on the podium preferable in the top 2 spots but Im not really seeing it. :frown:

Id also love to see Phaneuf place in the top 3 but she's going to take some time to get all of her triples back. Hopefully next year.

I would love to see Rochette perfecting 3salcow-half loop-3toe for the national. This will be great!

It appears that all of our brothers and sisters north of the border are certain who will take gold in the ladies' event. But this could just be Mira's turn to shine.

Langlois and Hay always make an impressive overall impression. What are they missing to contend for a higher spot?

Yes, ladies field is completely depleted in Canada and Joannie here has the status of Yu-na in Korean nationals. Joannie might as well be crowned before doing her warm-up.

Mira? hell no. Let's not get started here. You are risking turning this thread to Mira-debating or bashing thread.

This is a good question. It appeared that pairs' always have packing order for some reasons. And you are right Langlois and Hay are one of the most underrated among the Canadian pairs. Unfortunately, I don't have the answer for you.

Pairs field is always exciting. I was rooting for waka/fecteau (sp?) last year and their LP was just riveting. I think I am going to miss them this year. On the brighter notes, we have a fair number of up and coming, promising pairs deepening the field.

I don't see anyone else in the top two spots BUT Joannie and Mira, and in that order. And I don't see that changing for the foreseeable future.

Lenko and Islam have withdrawn from Cdns

Skate Canada posted their withdrawal from the skating order. Anyone know what happened?

No! I was so looking forward to seeing them. Could it be her illness? They pulled from the JGP final. I didn't know that they had withdrawn. Whatever it is, I hope they get to compete again soon.

I know that she has asthma, they withdrew in the middle of their OD performance at Jr.World last year. Not sure about this time.

Considering the current crop of junior/novice ladies, it is certain that Mira will be the reigning queen, if Joannie retires after 2010 and Mira stays on. This is truly scary.

I must say there are a few impressive Novice and junior skaters coming up the ranks. I would hope the future of our ladies event doesn't sit in Mira's hands - that is a scary thought indeed !!!!

I do think there are some promising ladies among our novices. At least out top novices have consistent triple toe and salchow.

However most of our top novices of previous years have had that too. However, they don't seem to gain any extra triples as they move to senior level. Even worse, they lose consistency on their formerly consistent triples.

Hopefully our current novices and juniors can buck that trend.
