not wishing this on anyone but if one of ROC's athletes was caught with a doping test, and ROC still sent that athlete to compete in the team event... then they should be DQed. Let's not forget why there are no Russian flags to start with. Russia is under scrutiny and needs to clean things up. This is definitely not something that will help the sport if true as everyone has been praising the Russian superiority. Imagine what the "normal fans" will think? Some of my friends who know I am crazy about figure skating are already writing to me with all sorts of allegations.... saying things "that's why they have these amazing athletes" I feel so sad for the sport. No matter what happens, this is not good.

OMG I never thoughtof that. Can you imagine Roman S with a medal.I feel like everytime drama happens in figure skating, everyone speculates it's this really big thing but then it turns out to be really mundane.
Anyway, here's how Canada can still medal. (I'm just kidding)
I couldn't care less how much Russia pays. Cheating is cheating. Doping is doping, if this is the case. Good lord....Sorry Canadian, but Russia pays for far more into the ISU than you... the ISU is not going to completely DQ until they absolutely have to.
ya know, im ganna wait for the news to get out... twitter MEH... no need to think about this.. the reality is that there is yet another controversial moment with figure skating at the olympics and i see this as a very bad thing for the sport.. i couldn't care less who ends up with medals or not... what matters is that the sport we love so much is going to be trashed by the public opinion now. They consult the federation for team sports and events: https://twitter.com/SkatingProtocol/status/1491300554269605889
If they say there is a possible test against a russian skater, they will look for it, and if they do not find it, they will invent a, total, they already invented evidence before... they are not illusus, they believe they will lose the opportunity to ban to perpetuity to Russia of all International sports competition...Is it possible that a positive result turn negative for doping?
And after all, someone can be in the same situation than Jessica Calalang. Some "doping" substances are in products used everyday.
The issue is that it takes months to clear the athlete.
It can be someting as mundane as makeup. Federations don't control the makeup products of every athlete. While true, athletes are responsible for what they put in their bodies and any supplements they use should be vetted by their national federations.
You are correct. It even made Dutch national news on TV just now. Inc the Russian doping rumor. In a country where fs is looked down on and they are JUST starting to get some foot in the ground on the international level, this is NOT the kind of news I want to see reported on.. what matters is that the sport we love so much is going to be trashed by the public opinion now.
If it was before the games does it count?
Note the time frame mentioned: BEFORE the Olympics. My guess is a failed test in or around Europeans. Why this is only coming out now, is baffling.
of course it counts : if you test positive, you get a suspension...If it was before the games does it count?
If he/she was drugs-free during team competition, the team shouldn't be DQ.
At first I thought Mishina / Galliamov testing positive would be the chaos option since that would mean a tie between Russia and Canada where Russia would win the tiebreaker. I do think in that situation they may just go all the way and DQ.Thought experiment... what's the team scores if you remove a Russian skater and give Canada 2 more points.
Canada had 53 points so they would have 55 points now.
Valieva - 74 - 20 = 54 ... Canada wins bronze outright.
Mishina / Galliamov - 74 - 19 ... Score would be tied but I think Russia would be ahead in a tiebreaker.
Sinitsina / Katsalapov - 74 - 18 = 56... Russia would be in bronze position.
Kondratiuk - 74 - 17 = 57... Russia would be in bronze position.
Maybe this is part of the "legal questions" that are currently ongoing. Does the team get DQ? Does only the individual (or couple) get DQ and their competition points go to zero?If it was before the games does it count?
If he/she was drugs-free during team competition, the team shouldn't be DQ.
you are thinking too much... usually, they will not recount the points of the event.. just the final rankings... so if Russia is indeed DQed, all the teams will move up one spot... If Russia's faulty athlete is for some reason excluded but weirdly they decide not to DQ the whole team, then they will not be shuffling medals. At first I thought Mishina / Galliamov testing positive would be the chaos option since that would mean a tie between Russia and Canada where Russia would win the tiebreaker. I do think in that situation they may just go all the way and DQ.
But the real chaos option is if one of Sinitsina / Katsalapov test positive... if they rescored then Japan would get 2 points and they would win the tiebreaker for the Gold.
What a mess that would be.
Suspension doesn't have to be retroactive.of course it counts : if you test positive, you get a suspension...
they usually are suspended retroactively from the date of the positive test and lose all competition results. Also, ROC is on a DO NOT FOOL WITH DOPING strict conditions right now, so if their federation let an athlete compete while that athlete should have stayed home, then it's a bigger issue than just an athlete testing positive.. it's a federation issue. No wonder this is getting bigger and bigger as times passes by. If the solution was simple, it would have been done quickly.Suspension doesn't have to be retroactive.
You do not have no idea what happened, what is the country, skater or substance. The most pathetic thing is that you do not even know that Meldonium does, much less the negative thing that is the intake for a skater.meldonium 2.0?
