Kamila Valieva: Anti-doping Case and Follow-ups

I don't think the court is ruling about her using a doping substance or not. That decision will take place later. Now they'll only rule if it was right to let her start at the OG after the positive result. So there will only be the decision if the can do the SP at Beijjng or if ROCs decision to lift the ban was wrong. Then she probably wouldn't be allowed to skate on tuesday.

The main paragraph : "The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) will decide tomorrow whether to reimpose a provisional suspension, while a decision on whether an offence has been committed will be made at a later date."

It will be a decision only on the admission to the competition. And after the Olympics the investigation will begin, which can go on for months, and then the decision will be made on the team gold and on the medals that Kamila has already earned and will earn these days. So, everything is still ahead, and this is just the BEGINNING. Even if they allow her to take a medal, then they can take her away. There is still uncertainty, and an endless amount of waiting. Patience, and she still needs a lot of strength.

Yeah, the "right" decision, or the most desired one? Funny how the important questions are not asked? As for example, why on Earth it took 2 months to suddenly get a positive sample?

Edit: If Valieva is a doper, I am wondering how she managed to pull through the team event (everyone saw what she did there - history), without her medication? Hm?
I am in no way defending the poster you replied to, but I'm thinking the point of this drug is not to have to rely on it in competitions. The work has been done in training- if this drug allows skaters to train harder and with more repetitions then that equals increased muscle memory and consistency, thus enabling them to skate really well in competition.

Folks, we've already banned more than handful of members from this thread (not the site).

Once again, here are the rules:

Carolina Kostner was banned for two years because her boyfriend was doping, and nobody complained. Now some people want an actual doper to get away with it?? Make it make sense.

I just hope I wake up tomorrow to the right decision on the news: "No Olympics for Valieva, and coaches banned for life."

That was towards the end of her career, and Valieva's career is just beginning

Etrie’s students are made of steel, they are trained through vigorous routines. Facing all odds and obstacles. This probably is a piece of cake for her, not a normal 15 year old. She should get the OGM if she is onequal playing field as the rest of the skaters, not with TMZ in her system..
I don´t think this is the case in this situation. Kamila has clearly been upset and crying in practice. If she skates and manage to skate clean, it will not be a piece of cake for her. She is the center of one of the biggest Olympic scandals in modern time, and this is tough situation. And it´s no shame if she is affected, she should be, she is human. If she won´t be suspended, she might have some weight lifted off her shoulder, but there will still be a lot of questions and feelings about her being there, and she would probably feel it. And if she wins the OGM, she will not be certain to keep it. That is a lot of feelings to process for a 15 year old girl and nobody can be prepared for this.

There are rumors on the Russian forums that the CAS ruled against Kamila and she will be suspended from the Olympics. I guess that means ROC loses the team event gold.
I just hope that Kamila soon finds the mental strength to be able to overcome all this and resurface next season.
Anyone here (a forum of fans, not casual viewers) knows that no substance is the reason for Kamila's natural talent, she could go to another camp, to another country and for sure she would still be the same talented girl we know.
Anyway, sad for all the stress he was subjected to by the international media, I hope he catches the first plane to Russia and can get some peace of mind with his loved ones. Strength Kamila, the Olympic Games are not everything in life, you have a whole life ahead of you to be successful in what you want because you have shown that you are a hardworking and disciplined girl.

If this is true, then the question that remains is does she leave eteri?

I think it's very unfortunate this is being drawn out for such a long time. I hope Kamila is in frequent touch with her parents and that she has some support from her team. If she is disqualified, she needs to know that it is not the end of the world and not the end of her career, either. She will still have a chance to clear herself in a full hearing. And even if a violation is found, she may only get a reprimand. In either case, she can resume her skating career. I'm sure the Russian fed will do whatever they can to help her because she does seem to be a unique talent.

My heart goes out to Kamila. I do hope she has been able to communicate with her family and friends who aren't involved with Team ET. She needs to talk to people whose top priority is her welfare -- and no one else's. At this point, IMO Team ET has too many conflicts of interest.
I do agree and that is why I asked. She needs to get the right support. I´m worried since she is in Beijing now she might have limited amount of options to who would represent her if she was to speak to a lawyer now. Apparently she had one already because it said her lawyer in Switzerland was online at the meeting with her.

Rumors are just rumors. Let's wait for the official decision in a few hours.

We probably won't know that until after the worlds. As has been commented here previously, this is only the beginning, CAS only determined if she can compete, not if she is guilty of doping. After watching Eteri's recent interviews, she feels very confident about Kamila's innocence. I also don't think it's a systemic doping as everyone here indicates, but the team will be investigated and that can affect all the girls. I wouldn't be surprised if Anna, Aliona and Sasha take time off after all this. With increasing age almost certainly, they can come back later. If there is something against Eteri, they have enough time to find another trainer and come back strong.

Does anyone know what the 'departure' situation is from Beijing? So if Valieva does get removed from the Individual Event is she able to get on a plane and go home right away or is she going to have to hang around for the remainder of the Games till the rest of her team leaves?
