Kamila Valieva: Anti-doping Case and Follow-ups

That is why this is a victory for Russia.
Her victory at the Olympics will be a victory forever in their hearts.
It's a lose-lose situation for everyone else no matter the investigation results are in future.
It most definitely is a victory for Russia. And there wont be any sort of fair investigation so she'll keep her medal. Russia can continue to dominate womens FS. And they'll be alone because noone but maybe Japan will care. Hopefully now they can stop saying the evil West is out to get them, but probably not. Their too nationalistic that they'll always find something else.

who is not natinalistic ? CHINA, UK, USA, IRAN, even JAPAN, I beg to didagree

And where was one of the most prominent polonium tea incident?.......London. Doesn't sound like in Russia to me.

Not getting into conspiracy stuff, but please let's not pretend that hit jobs cannot happen beyond one's own border.
Switzerland is known as a neutral state that's Al you need to know.

This is a small victory on the part of Russian sport. The CAS has proven that it is a fairly impartial body, which takes neither political context nor commercial interests into account - relying solely on legal arguments and the principle of justice, which in this case was on the side of the athlete. The CAS pointed out the imperfection of the World Anti-Doping Code and the anti-doping rules developed on their basis. They emphasized that the issue of suspensions of protected persons had not been regulated properly.

Most importantly, they pointed out that irreparable harm would be done to the athlete if she was not allowed to participate in a personal tournament. As a result, she could either be found completely innocent or given a minimal punishment, but she could no longer be reinstated at the Olympics. A fair decision.

Of course this is not a victory for Russia. Social media has already hanged and strangled them.
Jontor see the above quote

So what you are saying is that you don't have a leg to stand on and Biles followed the rules? Yup, as I thought.

The options are
A) They gave her the drugs (adults are responsible)
B) She took it herself (she is a minor and adults are still responsible)

or you can believe

C) It rains illegal drugs in Russia and a heart medication accidentally fell in her tea.
You want me to continue Biles' discussion - I won't. Following the rules is a good cover when those rules are different for different folks. How many athletes in Russia are allowed to take strong PE drugs against a common condition which ADHD is? The answer is 0. Full stop.

As for Kamila, the investigation is on. I am sure that there was no intentional wrongdoing by her or her team. And I am waiting for the proofs to that. The logic is simple - the stuff that was found is useless as a one time doping. The half life argument is ridiculous. 20 years ago the insurance company had the ability to tell that I was smoking a month ago. It's not about half-life - it's about the time when the traces of substance can be found. As nothing was found before and after it means that there was nothing like a course. It was a one-time incident of getting this substance into her sample. How and why? Those are the questions for the investigation.

I didn't write this for you and floks like you - I write it for those who are not on the bandwagon of "inquisition".

I'm sorry, but I want the unbridled optimism of people who think that RusFed or RUSADA or whomstever is going to launch any sort of internal investigation following this, other than possibly investigating how they can cycle drugs more successfully so that they stay off screenings. That team doctor Eteri has, Filipp Shvetsky, is quite experienced, maybe he can come up with something. However, he seems to have gotten caught twice now, so they might want to invest in someone less prone to failure to avoid continued global sports media embarrassments.

I doubt they care one iota about that.
of course not, vrussians have their social media platforms
Rodchenkov is in witness protection and he's in the US. Skripal was poisoned in England. If threatened, the arbitrators' fear would not be unfounded.
skipral was a former Russian agent and ridneckov a witness fugitive for us pawn. different from arbitrators doing via remote and neutral state. one if the arbitrators is from the US.

I think this was the right decision. The Swedish Laboratory with their slowness of producing these results forced this result. If they produced results earlier in mid-Jan, it would have been Alexandra, Anna and Elizaveta at the Olympic Games, as Kamila would have been disqualified. But, the result being posted during Olympics, is the reason why we are where we are.

Do we have a timeline on the whereabouts of the sample during the entire period?

like when was it sent out, when did it get to the lab and so on,
I think I saw someone specify that earlier.

I have a question. If at the least minute Kamila is finally suspended, misses individual event, but 6 months later we find out it was an error of the lab, an accidental ingestion or anything else that proves that she's innocent. Would you be outraged and feel sorry for her as you are feeling sorry for the other athletes now?

I mean i would be ok if she's finally suspended. It would be fair to other skaters and they will have their "moment of glory". But also i will be outraged if months later there is an evidence that this was mistake. A girl would have lost her only chance to fight for gold at olys for a mistake. That wouldn't be fair to her too, as it wasn't fair for Calalang.

And that's why i take it well to let her compete. Give her a chance then take the medal after if needed. At least girl would have a chance. Especially given the circumstances.

I know that i'm rare specy, 50/50 on this case. I don't know how to be 100% in one camp.

the western media may have been lenient on Kamila but there is always CNN and fuming Brennan and TSL
To be fair to TSL, they have been constantly acknowledging of the fact that Valieva is a minor. At no point have I seen them lay the blame on Valieva. In fact, as in the case of how Sotnikova was blamed for winning the gold, I've only seen TSL make a stance for holding accountable those in power, and not the skater. While sometimes I do find Dave Lease very catty, his coverage has been the most rational compared to mainstream in this situation. Brennan and Lease have been worlds apart in this case.

I agree. TSL has been remarkably consistent and have never once blamed Kamila.
