Am I the only one to feel that there are a lot of bits and parts of the story that are being purposely released one by one, contradicting one another, just to confuse everyone about what is really happening??? Folks, there is only one thing that matters : the test was positive.

not according to CAS - not if someone is a minor and if the decision would cause irreparable harm to the athlete. screw everybody else who were actually clean and the irreparable harm it does to the rest of the ladies and in the sport in general. at least that's what I took from the decision.

I'm just so sick of the fact that athletes (minor or not) were treated so differently.
Funny enough GS has so many guidelines for this thread that you can't even speculate, yet when you tested positive in doping you can still compete in this sport if you are from certain background. Rules only apply to the unprivileged

Looks like Eteri is going go sail out of this like non of it had anything to do with her.

Let's face it, this is because the probability that she had something to do with it is minimal. It's everyone's hatred of her that blinds them to realize that Eteri is no fool, she wouldn't risk her reputation for an athlete when she has a full field to replace them. It's just absurd. At this point and reading that trimetazidine has a cytoprotective effect in people who have received a heart transplant, it is likely that the accidental contamination was the contact with the grandfather, the question here is how was that accidental contamination.

I'm still crossing my fingers for the news to pop up anytime that Kami pulls out of the event in support of Sasha and Anna. In addition, I don't know how she will stand going out on the track with the looks of hatred and contempt from everyone when she was not to blame nor did she know her adverse result or the decision of CAS. If she decided to retire and in the future is cleared of any doping charges, she would still keep her gold medal from the team event and be called Olympic champion (like Yulia Lipnistkaya).

Interestingly, according to an article linked earlier (https://dossier-center.appspot.com/kamila/), the head of the Results Management Department at RUSADA, Valeriya German, also found the grandfather's-glass excuse unconvincing and tried to keep the suspension in place. They ruled against her.

Goodness, somehow when the words "grandpa's glass" are in your first language, just staring in your face, it sounds even more ridiculous

Her coaches should never be able to coach another student. Otherwise, I am not ok with her competing.

There has been a Russian doping scandal for each of the last six Olympics.

oh and the latest news are that rusada actually forgot to flag kamilas probe as a priority sample which it should have been so the lab did not know that the sample should have been fast tracked. i would guess that the probe from euros was flagged which is the reason it got fast tracked and the results were there before the results from rusnats. so its not the labs fault according to WADA.

Yeah, we already knew that yesterday when the decision was announced. But since the thread moves fast, it's understandable this piece of news got lost in the sea of posts.

There is no evidence that your team was involved in the adverse outcome. It is only the hatred towards Eteri that blinds everyone to write this.
TT has never had a doping case on any of their athletes before, considering they have attended every major ISU competition at junior and senior level in the last 8 years.

I saw the Yelim Kim video... the "oh really? " when finding out Kamila is allowed to compete says it all... I don't speak Korean but the non-verbal language doesn't lie

Not so fast to label her “Olympic champion”. She doesn’t have any gold medal yet, not even from the team event she has already skated. They postponed the medal ceremony for everyone precisely because giving her a medal is fraught with conflict. so not only does she not have one, other people can’t get a medal because of her. So, no if she retired now, she would not go down in history as Olympic champion but as a cheater. Sorry but this is the tragedy of the situation for everyone involved.

I don’t disagree… if they had decency and respect they would withdraw. But what with all the appeals and the ridiculous grandfather story doesn’t seem like the case.

If I were in her shoes, I’d withdraw and train squeaky clean until the next Olympics and show I can still win or if I’d show my best here and then on purpose do something at the end that would disqualify me (lie down for a long time on ice? Idk what but there must be something). And yes I’m taking into consideration that she’s 15. Even if she was doped without her knowledge/consent she should know what this means. Yes, I am more than twice her age but I can remember being 15. But not just me, cognitively 15 year olds would have a sense of fairness since even five year olds have theory of mind. It’s not like we’re talking about a 4-year-old here unable to put themselves in the other athletes shoes and can’t see their side of things.

I know of Tatyana Lysenko being stripped of 2012 Olympic gold medal due to her doping. She was hammer thrower.
