Jason Brown

Can I say something gently about Jason as an ice dancer?

Of course, he would be amazing (presuming he bulked up and found a tiny partner). ;)

But the US is not Japan with regard to ice dancing. The US is super strong in ice dancing, has incredible depth, and ice dancers who have been training ice dancing for years. Jason/Jason's partner would not be able to get international assignments (as much as I would love to see him skate until he's 40).

Let him train other men's singles and hope that on some level, somewhere, they can learn the skills of Jason Brown.
Yeah - I mentioned earlier that I would love to see him win an Ice Dance Gold Medal with Evgenia - but realistically I'm very aware that US Ice Dance is incredibly deep, unlike Japan, so it is impractical. (Still a happy dream...)

Could he potentially compete for another country, one which doesn't have such a deep field?

Oh he absolutely could. Jason would automatically qualify for Israeli citizenship, and I'm sure Galit Chait could find a Jewish grandmother for some partner somewhere. ;)

But is Mr Team USA going to represent another country? (and I understand the fantasy and would love to see him continue skating too. We can dream :)

I would be knockdown flat surprised if Jason represented any country other than the US. And quite frankly, I don't see him as an ice dancer, either. I think he's reached the pinnacle of his career as a competitor. But I would hope, and he alluded to it, that he would stay involved with figure skating. I think he has much more to give back as a coach or a mentor. JMO of course.

Agreed. I see him getting his coaches certifications in certain areas. Jason is craving some normalcy in his private life and at 27 it is certainly time for that. Maybe he’ll finish school at a University in Chicago. That would give him the opportunity to meet new people and learn at the same time. I see competitive retirement.

Jason enjoys the "Big Air" with an international cast of ice dancers and Nathan. Mostly I like these photos because he is wearing his personalized "Brown" hat, which I think only Ralph Lauren models received.

All this socializing is allowing Jason to wear all his swag:laugh:

I'm sure it's been really nice for him to see his friends again. It's probably been kind of lonely in Toronto for the past year and a half. His training group disintegrated. Everyone else is considerably younger. I'm just happy that he's having a good time and enjoying this experience. He deserves it!

It's so nice to see Jason really enjoying his Olympic experience, even if it's an odd experience. Of course, this being Jason, we should have known he would enjoy it anyway!
