Nathan Chen

I think Nathan speaks Chinese better than he let’s on (just not up to his high standards):
Nathan is very humble & self effacing. He says not a good pianist, not a good dancer, not that good at the guitar and would barely acknowledge he got 800 on his math SAT. You’re right. In his mind, he isn’t that great at things that mere mortals, half as accomplished, would be bragging about.

Good Lord he got an 800? Save some talent for the rest of us please!

Insane intelligence & insane work ethic! His 3rd grade teacher says he was in a gifted class. His siblings were all chess champs as children. Now one is a NASA scientist and one a founder of a biotech company. Mama Chen had to have been a genius to have navigated the figure skating training system, as an immigrant with limited English, to get her son elite level training with little money.

Article: At Olympic’s close, Salt Lake’s Nathan Chen helps say goodbye to the Beijing Games
“I’ve mostly accomplished all the goals that I’ve wanted to accomplish in skating,” Chen told The Salt Lake Tribune a day after his golden triumph. “And I’m already very happy and satisfied with my career. So. It’s hard to say whether or not I will want to continue going.”

To be clear, Chen has not said he plans to retire. However, after he finishes the Stars on Ice exhibition tour, he plans to return to Yale in the fall. He took two years off of school to prepare for the Olympics and he told The Salt Lake Tribune he does not plan to train while he is there.

Nathan's win was NBC's most tweeted moment.

NBC has taken down Nathan’s programs from youtube! I’m so upset! I know that the Olympic Channel will eventually put them up, but I watch them everyday… 😢😢😢
Yes, very annoying. They are still up on the NBCOlympics.com site.

Thanks. 10 million total views now gone poof. It’s really sad. I had to watch some baby Nathan to cheer myself up.

Here’s a video from the today show.
